Running Ubuntu 18.04 on a GTX 970 using the 396.54 Nvidia drivers. I don't get any graphical issues until I enter the game, where everything just is a mess of spraying polygons and invisible characters. All other topics that seem close to this tend to relate to updating drivers, however, mine are quite up to date. I have tried modifying just about everything within the configuration, but still no go. Once again, this only happens after character creation. Menu screen and character creation graphics run just fine and dandy! ![]() |

This is a bug with the newest WINE versions if you are using the rolling releases w/ Nvidia drivers. You have to compile a version of WINE with a patch to fix it or use an older version with the regression. I write about it here: http://vaughanhilts.me/blog/2018/10/27/ ... l-box.html If you need some help doing this, you can post back here. I guess you could get an AMD card as well. ![]() |

So do you recommend cloning an entirely new wine install and working from there? Seems like a lot of work even though I already have Wine installed.. Also, is this compiling the application as a 32 or 64bit application. I can do 64bit just fine, but it seems to think that packages are missing for 32bit. Hope to play the game soon! I've never played it before, but have always wanted to try it out! |

That is what I do, yes. It's kind of a pain but given the 100s of hours this game can take and more it's a small investment in the long run. It also allows you to not have to do a bunch of hacks for your system WINE which is nice. |

A couple of issues that I am having.. Followed your tutorial, but nothing appears within the dialogue box for configuration, and when I try to boot the game, it just closes shortly after saying "Hairpin fix applied!". Were there any other specific, out of the ordinary packages or options that I should have gotten before building wine from that repository? The installation process worked, but it didn't have any sound. I feel like something is missing, but not entirely sure what that is.. |

For example, at the end of the "./configure" command, it shows all of this: Code: configure: libxcursor 32-bit development files not found, the Xcursor extension won't be supported. Not sure if any of these statements could indicate why i'm having the issue. |

I use Arch and have a bunch of it installed. I think a bunch of them aren't under Ubuntu. You can just hunt down the packages and install them to fix that. For example: https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keyw ... mpg123-dev I would install as many of them as you and see how many errros you can knock out. Especially font, audio and graphical ones. Obviously things like CUPS (printing) is less important and can be skipped. Also, make sure you have multilib 32 bit support and the libraries needed to support that. :/ It will work, I promise, but it's going to require patching some holes. We can take this to Nascent real-time chat if you need help. |

Seems like the best scenario at the moment, it's just a pain because the Ubuntu Repository isn't showing a lot of the dependencies for the needed packages, so I am having to select them each individually from the website. Definitely makes me wish I had the AUR.. All because i'm searching for the i386 versions of the packages... |

I'm sitting in Nashcat -- my name is Seliox there. Just ping me when you find me there. https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keyw ... sound2-dev For example should be one of those sounds packages you need, thohugh. Which ones can't you find? It also looks like https://wiki.winehq.org/Building_Biarch_Wine_On_Ubuntu could be an answer... and perhaps this page: https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu Or once again, you can use an older version of WINE. Once simple way of doing this would be using https://www.playonlinux.com/en/ which you can have multiple WINE versions already setup, so you can do the dualbox thing too if you wanted. You would just select a version before the regression. Not sure when that was by I know it worked in early June with my system WINE and then stopped working. So maybe pick a version that came out in like April or something. And then you can update it when they fix the regression in WINE for Nvidia cards. Since Playonlinux just uses WINEPREFIXEs under the hood, you can do any manual package installs you want to do or DLL overrides I've suggested without trouble. The compiled WINE versions are stored in `/home/touma/.PlayOnLinux/wine` for doing the DLL override. |
