Thread title.

I have a good custom-built gaming PC but I know that doesn't mean squat for FFXI. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get /fps 1 to work without causing severe animation slowdown? i.e. character looks like he's running at half speed.

Thanks

If your not capable of running at 60 fps then this happens. To fix it, get a pc that can actually run the game consistently at 60 fps.

I mean I can run other modern games at 60+ fps. I guess my Ryzen CPU just doesn't work well with the game. I know there's the whole multi-core issue. I've tried running on single core but doesn't make that much difference and the core starts to heat up, or my FPS just drops drastically.

FFXI is not optimized for high resolutions or high framerates. No one will run it reliably over 60 fps when using a high resolution with many players around.

You'll notice it happens if you drop to 15 fps if you're on 30 cap too.

I occasionally have to alt+tab when I see it frame skipping to let it catch up.

The game was built to run at 30fps for the PS2, so all sorts of funky things can happen when modding the framerate.

I have the game running perfectly with /fps 1 and 60fps with the following (for what it's worth for reference):

- 2560x1440 (or 4k if using TV; same experience with both resolutions)
- i5 4690k (OC to 4.5ghz)
- GTX 1080
- 16GB DDR3 2400
- Intel 600p 512GB SSD
- etc...

It'll slow down around auction houses/etc but nothing funky; just a little bit lower frame rate.
