Hello. New computer I'm installing the client on, running into issues. I successfully installed the client, however, upon entering my account info in the command prompt I receive a prompt from windows stating I need DirectPlay to continue. My understanding is that DirectPlay is a legacy feature in Windows 10; however, when attempting to enable DirectPlay I receive yet another prompt saying I need to restart to implement the changes. Upon restart I notice that DirectPlay is again disabled.

I've tried disabling anti-virus firewalls (Kaspersky and Windows Defender), as well as entering PowerShell commands (as Admin), but nothing seems to work. Every attempt at enabling DirectPlay appears to result in it instantly becoming disabled again. I updated to the latest version of Windows 10, but that did not work either.

I run a 64 bit Windows 10 OS, as stated. Not sure what else to try. I assume at least one person using the client has Windows 10/run into the same issue. I'd be very appreciative of any assistance.

As stated in the original post, I've already attempted to update windows. Still could not enable DirectPlay.

I had this issue yesterday while trying to join the server. I was able to resolve it after spending awhile on it. If you still need help, let me know and I can provide links and whatnot to get you online.

Post what fixed it here so that anyone with the same issue can find your post and fix it.

I installed yesterday using Windows 10. Once Installed, when I would input my login info in the command prompt, I also got the message about Directplay, which led me to this thread.

There is a conflict with older versions of Windows 10 that won't allow Directplay to be turned on. To check which version of 10 you have, go to settings > system > about and under Windows Specifications, it should show a version number. I had version 1709, and the machine claimed to be up to date.

I had to manually update the OS to version 1803, the April update. Once I did, I was able to go to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows feature on or off > Legacy Components > DirectPlay. You must check both the box for DirectPlay, and Legacy Components, then hit OK. With the correct update, the machine did not require a restart for the change to take effect.

Once I turned Directplay on, in the Nasomi command prompt, my password would not work, each key I pressed would input 2 characters each time, to resolve this, you go to NasomiXI.exe > Right click on the "play" button you intend to use > edit configuration > and in the command line that is blank, put --user yourUsername --pass yourPassword.

I was then able to log in, and play. Let me know if this is difficult to follow or formatted poorly. Mechanic, not a IT guy. I was unable to find the method I used to get the windows update manually, once I get home from work. I will try to find it again.

Can you elaborate further on where the Control is? I have Systems on my computer but not the list of items you gave.

Also, can you explain further or have pictures of the .exe and the "play" button you talk about?

Thanks

Not sure if anyone is still having issues with Direct play and windows 10. If you are, I was able to use the following link to fix the problem:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... cadf61a9ec

I found the post from jennatar on March 10, 2018 to be the most helpful. **Note-After performing this, you will likely need to run windows update again and could take sometime (for me it was about 30 minutes).**

After this, I used the Windows Key+R>control panel>Programs>Turn Windows features on or off>Legacy Components>Direct Play (enable).
