Hey everyone. I’ve been in backend dev for over 15 years, but lately, I feel like my role has fundamentally changed. With the new agentic RAG tools we’ve integrated into our CI/CD pipeline this year, I spend 90% of my day just auditing AI-generated pull requests. While productivity is through the roof, I miss the 'craft' of writing logic from scratch. I feel a strange sense of burnout—not from overwork, but from a lack of creative agency. My brain is constantly in 'debug mode' looking for hallucinations instead of building. How are you senior devs keeping your passion alive when the machine does the heavy lifting? Do you still code for fun, or is the screen fatigue too much?

I hear you loud and clear. When your job becomes 'Human-in-the-loop' for an AI, it’s easy to lose that spark. My solution has been a hard 'no-code' rule for my personal time. I need to engage my brain in something that has zero logic, zero syntax, and zero AI assistants. Lately, I’ve been spending my free time playing on https://spinshouse.co.uk/. It’s the perfect digital palate cleanser because it’s purely about the moment and the thrill, with no technical debt to worry about. It helps me disconnect from that 'audit' mindset so I don't go crazy. You have to find a way to let your brain just be without solving a problem for a while!
