You really shouldn't be asking for free gil, in game or here. You already have a reputation for begging in game, and that ain't good dude. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but warn you that what you have been doing is pretty frowned on and you might want to chill with that.
Everyone works pretty hard to earn gil to get by, new and old players. Lots of great advice has been given above! I recommend searching through the forums and reading up on recommendations for making gil, such as
this post, which has several recent responses. I haven't been able to level in a couple weeks due to lack of gil (for spells/gear), so I've buckled down and started fishing to earn gil. There are a lot of people fishing to get by right now, and I'm certain that just about any fisherman you run in to would be happy to give you advice on it. There are forum posts on fishing and guides on the wiki, but the best info I've gotten has been from fellow players. The community is very helpful.
Since it sounds like you are pretty lost with some other aspects of the game, I also highly suggest reading the section on "
Getting Started." It gives you a great, easy to understand introduction to what you need to know about the basics of the game. There is also a
Wiki Page that is updated regularly with helpful information. Definitely give that a browse! It's a great resource. Good luck.
asked for gil on forums once
asked for gil in game for 5 mins
tons of people were dicks to me...also saying i should be kicked from server
lol...idk if i should even play if i can be banned, i dont want to get level 50 and get banned, might just buy ff 11 if i decide i like it enough.
why are old games with people who been playing for a decade such assholes? should of known though, no different than diablo 2...all new players like a little help and it makes it fun to be able to pimp out your char to go own in pvm...
i've always hooked new players in games, cause i know how much more fun it is for them.
i don't need any lessons on day one on oh you need to learn to earn your own gil! i just want to have some fun for first few days then decide if i want to play serious...obviously if i don't like it, then a member gets lost...
i know it's nothing when you got 1k people playing, but if this server had 200 people i bet the attitudes would be way different.
anyways, you post a nice little comment but if you were one of the guy in the link shell talking shit, then your post doesn't match how you were actually acting toward me...over 1k gil lol....
I haven't spoken to you in game. I'm definitely not in your ls. I've seen you, though. I was just offering some advice, man. We are all in the same boat. Well, most of us. All of us would love to "pimp out our characters." We can't. Doing that takes long-term investment. If people have legit been dicks to you, that sucks and it's not a representation of the whole community. But, based on how you've responded to me...well, maybe you've taken some things the wrong way. Everyone that I've seen has been trying to offer you advice, and you shoot them down, wanting only gil.
You will only get kicked from the server if you break the rules or do anything that is specifically listed as a bannable offense. Asking for gil isn't bannable or anything like that, but it will rub people the wrong way.
If there were less players, sure it'd be different-- we'd be ever more broke, lol. I played back when there were like 100 people on, then 200ish, then I quit for a while. I came back about a month ago and I'm still poor but I'm having a lot of fun and meeting good people. New players get help often. I've been helped along the way, and I help others all the time. Help doesn't have to come in the form of gil.
Retail is a vastly different experience than this. You might actually enjoy retail, but do know that it's very different than this. It's much faster paced. They've changed a LOT over the many years that this game has been kickin' around. This server is meant to be a nostalgic blast from the past-- a hard, classic ffxi grind experience. I love it.
