Hello everyone, I'm really interested in joining the game and community but have a honest to god noob question. I'm currently playing the retail version of the game. If I download the torrent for the private server will it affect the retail version and corrupt files etc?

You only need to download the stuff on page http://nasomi.com/download.php, you don't need to torrent ffxi again.

You used to be able to just change the ip in ashita to www.nasomi.com and log in that way, dunno if it's changed.

There are some file copy/replacing. Follow the steps in the Wiki and you will be fine.

If hard drive space is not an issue, I recommend you copy the POL folder and rename then back and forth depending on what you trying to play. I've done this since retail, backing up my FFXI folder that already been updated so I don't have to wait 10+ hours everytime I re-install the game. (File checking still takes a while)

Something like this. Sorry for not showing you the real path name. I'm at work atm.

When you play retail
C:/xxx/FFXI <------ retail
C:/xxx/FFXI-Nasomi

When you play Nasomi rename them other way around
C:/xxx/FFXI <------ Nasomi
C:/xxx/FFXI-Retail

For the Visual C++ Runtime I need to download it elsewhere?

yeah if your playing retail al you need is the updated ashita launcher from the download section here and one or more c++ runtimes depending on your windows updates i only needed vc++ redist 2015 from a fresh instal of win10 (you want the x86 version regardless of os), then just copy the data folder from he playonline directory to your ffxi directory and your done, you can play retail and nasomi at the same time but updating retail straight away when their is an update may occasionly cause issues with nasomi until fixed.

if you still get an error when you launch ashita just google the earlier ones and download them all direct from ms website.
