Hi all, complete newbie to FFXI here. I've been playing XIV and got curious about this game; there are so many stories and experiences about it from Final Fantasy players. But, at least to my understanding, the current retail experience is a different beast to the "classic" FFXI that many remember. So I came here!

There's definitely a lot to get used to for someone like me, who's familiar with a more modern MMO experience. But I'm having fun so far! It's interesting to see the design influences carried to FFXIV, as well as the Final Fantasy trappings in general

That being said, I am kind of an idiot - so I would appreciate any help or advice I can get! Currently I'm a Mithra named Candee chilling in Windurst. Started as a BLM, I'd like to get to SMN if possible since it's my favorite FF job. I guess I should shout for a MogHouse linkpearl? Welcome CosmicCandy! We hope you're enjoing ffxi nasomi. BLM is a strong job in here so it's a good choice. The MogHouse linkpearl will help a lot with parties and quests so you should shout for it asap, there's almost always someone in town with a pearl! Remember that after lvl 13-14 it's best that you go partying in Valkurm dunes for the best exp instead of soloing. Generally ffxi is a very party-related game.
