Hi,

I've leveled both PLD (42)and NIN (44) mostly with LS members. I've noticed that NIN dominates by far in regards to damage and downtime. NIN makes it look too easy and I am sure that people xp'ing love this like I do.

Leveling PLD after NIN is painful at times. This being said, in regards to being in high demand, is PLD/NIN more often needed over NIN endgame? I don't really feel like leveling both to 75 and gearing both :) I'd prefer to choose 1.

Any thoughts or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. If PLD/NIN is in high demand and low supply, and more often needed, then I'll push through leveling PLD!

For endgame both are viable.

Pld will often be pld/nin
Nin (for longer fights) will often be nin/drk. Things like dynamis/limbus nin/war is fine.

If you are only leveling one, and its your first job on Nasomi take the following into consideration:

Ninja will get easier merit pt invites - Pld does not.
Ninja can solo/farm a little bit easier as nin/thf.
Ninja will be continuously expensive (tools) whereas PLD will one-time-cost you on some spells that you can only get from NPCs.
Ninja has a lot of buyable gear for tanking - Pld takes a decent amount of R/Ex gear (dynamis, Apollyon, etc) to be at peak tanking.

Edit: read your sig - you have a 75 you prob dont need any of this information. but im leaving it up for new players

Mobs on Nasomi TP way too fast and spam TP moves like crazy, tanking endgame stuff on NIN or WAR/NIN is a whole lot harder than how it used to be in retail (enmity being a little wonky probably doesn't help either with that many heals being thrown at you). Shame cause it was a lot of fun during the CoP/ToaU era.

I'm sure it can be done with enough support but PLD is easy mode in comparison and a lot safer.

Thanks everyone for the info and taking the time to reply.

My DRG can merit and farm so merit with Pally wouldn't be an issue ^^

It appears that PLD endgame is the right fit for me overall. It's difficult sometimes at level 40-something with +24 VIT (and Galka), good gear and best food possible and still get hit for 60+ damage per hit :)

Also, you almost never see an EGLS advertise that they are recruiting NIN. I find both jobs super fun but I make sure that I switch my mindset completely when I play PLD and try not to compare them :)

If you want the best tank endgame (which is what I think ur asking by the title of this forum), just level RDM and gear it for tank. Better than both of these options and a lot of people would agree

Anything that NIN* can tank, SAM can do better.

*maybe not faust or white cajoney.

100% agree with kubi. Rdm is the best for the majority of popular content. The only fights I'd say rdm is inferior to pld for would be vrtra, byakko, and kirin.

nins can also tank wyrms where sams definitely cannot.

This is unconfirmed. If I ever do play again, I can assure you I'll be tanking Tiamat on SAM. Jorm would certainly be a bit trickier, and yeah, Vrtra would spam too much TP.
