Is there any way to directly contribute to the development of the server? I recently posted asking how many of the quests/NMs have been implemented and started thinking I would love to help put the lesser-known quests in the game as well as dialogue. I have experience in computer science and pick things up quickly. I also ran my own private server a while ago for my friend and I to mess around on so I've got a little bit of knowledge on the subject.

If there's any way to help I'd love to know.

Read through the forums and you'll eventually see why.

There was a lot of drama in the past regarding people who helped nas out. Nas is trying to protect his most dedicated players by not allowing them to be in a situation where they're targeted the same way that one good guy was.

It also doesn't help that there are literal bounties out to get his code. And then there's the threats... and issues with multiple people being accountable for things etc, etc

If you want to contribute to the server, do things that will save his time otherwise, so that he can better spend it doing dev stuff, like helping new players with install or gameplay issues in naschat. He also often says "just invite your friends, and play fair" when asked if someone can help him. So, just be a good player and be friendly.

There isn't much left for nas to do to get the server in a flawless state, either. The amount of bugs and their nature these days is much smaller and simpler than in the past.

Personally, I'd really like it if someone helped contribute to the naswiki. Chakan is doing a great job with it and I appreciate it. But damn it'd be nice if someone ported over quest and monster info to our wiki so that people wouldn't be confused about the differences between retail and here. The troubleshooting page (http://nasomi.com/wiki/index.php?title= ... leshooting) was a barren wasteland before I started working on it; it's still incomplete too. If you have an issue why not add it there?

I had a feeling that it had to do with people trying to take advantage of Nas' work. I actually might try to help with the wiki when I've got nothing else to do. Having a good wiki would probably entice people to play more often since they wouldn't be so lost. The more people that are on the server probably motivates Nas even more so that's probably a great idea.

You mentioning needing help with the wiki gave me an idea as well. Maybe I could add pages for quests that don't work and flag them as not working until they're fixed so players don't waste their time traveling/farming etc. and it might also be a good resource for Nas once he gets to putting said quests in.

Thanks for the reply, it makes sense to me now why Nas doesn't want third party assistance regarding code.

A single wikipedia page or index with thorough documentation of all of the differences from retail would be rather welcome. There's a listing on an old forum thread here, but I'm not sure if things have been addressed or adjusted since then.
