Again, you're arguing hypotheticals, I'm stating my experience with several dozen SMN, and its that they're not asked to main heal. I'd be curious if that SMN+COR+4DD PT didnt have a little guy in a dalmatica taking the brunt of the healing load also.

Rage damage is no longer enough to warrant a dd spot in a party. My arguments are all about where smn can and should still fit in a strong party composition.

And no, PLs aren't necessary.

I don't think anyone would argue they dont replace the role of a true DD, but typically in a less than optimal party composition the train of thought when thinking of inviting a SMN is that "we'll settle for them to be a subpar DD/haste bot" not that "we'll settle for them to be a main heal/haste bot." Not really arguing that the latter is better or worse, but the initial discussion was the roles at which the current meta is dictating what a SMN should be doing, even if that is a lack of adapting to their lowered BP damage. SMNs are still mostly being invited and using their offensive BPs on CD.
