I don't think that it's one of the items that will be removed in the next maintenance. It's not ToAU specific anyway.
I think it was an example of a similar (currently hypothetical) situation of a relatively common but expensive item being removed after a lot of gil changed hands.
Anyway with the buy-back that was announced I think most problems should be taken care of.
