Hello, I am wanting to start one crafting job to give me something to do while waiting for a party but i have little knowledge of how good each craft could be. Can someone list (in their opinion) the best to worst crafting in order and please list pro and cons of each?

This game does not have a strong element of "you can only get this awesome item by crafting for yourself" like some mmo's do. You are crafting for two reasons:

Making gear for yourself and to sell to others.
Making consumables for yourself and others.

Craft skills are only limited beyond skill 60 (of 100), and skill ups are measured in tenths. You will have every opportunity to change your mind without penalty, other than time and money spent.

Profit is often made by HQ synths, where improved items or quantities are given because your skill is above the level to make something.

Think about the big picture, and use websites to plan ahead on what you want to make before you start. If you want someone to double check your plans, just ask. You can private message me if you prefer to keep your plans private.

Good luck!

That's like asking what the best job in the game is; it is completely dependent on what you want in that craft.

Look up each craft and what they can make on an ffxi wiki. Then decide which craft you want to level. All crafts are profitable. If you have to ask this question and other people on what to craft, then don't bother crafting; you will just fail and waste your gil.

And no, I'm not saying this in a mean way, because crafters can make profit selling materials to people skilling up; it's actually part of the economy, so it hurts me financially telling you not to skill up.
