A basic party setup would be a tank(most of the time a warrrior will do fine for the dunes) you could always grab pld if you wanted. If your below lvl 12 and want to grab a ninja I suggest grabbing a warrior or someone with sub warrior. Even craving a ninja at 12+ you want someone with at least sub warrior. Honestly if you want to play smn then I would switch back to white mage like wolf suggested. Most people are going to tell you to grab all melee which would be your best option for xp/hour, but you would be fond with a mage but I would honestly only grab one mage at most. So if you want to play white mage then grab a warrior and just tell people that your new and that you wouldn’t might some advice on where to camp. If you get a 13 sync then go to the upper left Conner of the map and fight lizzards. I would suggest if the fines are full to go to bastion and go to K tunnel and fight worms.

Thank you, I appreciate the tips. I leveled warrior because I'd rather get a little experience of how partying works, but in the 10+ hours sitting in dunes flagged yesterday and the 3+ hours today along with the random shout I haven't got a single invite. I'm starting to feel like the new kid in school standing against the wall hoping to get chosen on one of the dodgeball teams. Unfortunately I'm small and have a booger hanging out of my nose so everyone ignores me and I'm left to play with bugs under the slide. I've always seen people talk about how LFG systems have ruined the social part of MMOs, but honestly its the people being elitist dicks who don't want to invite new people and the crappy meta of games that ruined it.

While often the goal of logging into FFXI is getting/making a party and leveling, there are periods where that just doesn't work out. The best advice I can give is to have something else productive going on while seeking.

For many that is farming, grinding EP mobs, crafting, questing/missions, fishing (a great way for a new player to make gil I think), or something out of game.

There is a setting in chat filters on tells that adds a chime sound to receiving a tell. I'm often doing chores, studying, or side projects when I seek.
