Really? Leaping Boots, Emp Pin, and PCC alone make a sweet bulk of that. I have been too lazy to farm up enough gil to duplicate the gear I had available in Retail, and hence do not own a PCC yet and I feel like a heel in group situations not having it.

I DO get your point, and it's valid... a player could lvl jobs with zero issues having none of that fancy gear. But the person you quoted also had a great point, even if it was just slightly hyperbolic. Most experienced ex-retail players will want to bring their A game, there is a substantial subset of Elitists especially in the overused XP camps, and feeling one might have to farm at the least a couple mil in lower lvl gear is not uncommon at all.

On the flippity flip, PCA BCNM being broken is a large contribution to that. Emp/Leaping is 150-200k each.

Dunno what to say to that, I've been watching PCC prices off and on for months, deciding if I want to bother fishing that long to afford it. I haven't seen the price since the recent bcnm fiasco, so it might be a lil higher at present... sure. But it was high enough before too. And Emp Pin is usually OVER 200k according to Nas AH, and Leaping Boots are closer to 300k. And we are only mentioning 3 items here, not talking about spells other gear like Brig +1. Not sure why you even replied with that post, if you were gonna be misleading about the prices that are so easily checked in a few seconds on the website.

It wasn't too long ago that I was broke and didnt have shit for gil. It certainly feels stupid as fuck that a player gearing up for 30 cap content would have to pay several million to have BiS gear when it would take hundreds of hours to farm it at that level.

Unfortunately, 95% of the wealth is consolidated in the top 10% of players and the guy with 2m in the bank, gearing up his sub job or alt will pay practically any amount for BiS gear while the guy leveling for the first time just gets dicked.

I dunno dude. Seems to me I’ve been in plenty of parties lately where someone had “affordable” gear, and they normally did well enough. Plus the more seasoned ladies and gents were often glad to lend advice and sometimes food or reasonable gear upgrades, me included, gladly gave a starving WAR my moth axe, and we all benefitted. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone get kicked for not having a PCC/PCA. Are those types of people out there? Sure. But if they kick you for that then come party with me.

So yeah, lot went on with this thread and it got locked. At the end of the day SE put this into motion with the introduction of the class and the rest is history. The good, bad, and the drama.

Slightly off-topic - If you think NIN is bad for /sub... IDK what you folks (pro nerf ninja) would have to say about /DNC. Good news is you won't have to deal with that crazy on this server.
