Windy is actually viable currently because that streamer's viewer base \ guild all went Windy, because of that Windy has been #1 for the last 2-3 weeks now.

I'm not on a heck of a lot these days and usually late at night when I am, but if you see me on, feel free to send a /tell if you have any questions or need some help.

There are some things on this server that aren't quite the same as old school retail. For example, some exp camps are different from what you may remember, so if someone suggests where to go to level and they've been on the server for a while, they are probably right. So just be open minded when you play.

Honest opinion: If you're starting fresh Nasomi probably isn't the way to go. XP from 12-60 is pretty much dead, it's a very top-heavy server, and there's a good chunk of content that isn't available. If I were objectively choosing between this and the other popular private server, I would probably choose the other based simply on the amount of available content and how active general XP is. Also, stability is another thing to consider - how often content is being worked on, issues are being resolved, etc.

Nasomi has some great ideas, like OWNMs and certain out-of-era items being available for QOL, but at the baseline it can be kind of hard for a newbie to really get rolling. Don't get me wrong, Nasomi has a great community (sometimes), but you might end up getting to the end and find it wanting.

Yes it is a bit hard going starting up, in that era it was supposed to be. Still, make friends and you’ll be fine.
