How did this poor dude's thread asking for a bit of advice become an argument? Kinda boring.
The actual responses were right though. If you want that apoc you'll need a job that can dyna burn. This means rdm, blm, brd. Cor as well (which is also a nice endgame job) but a lot of groups won't give you a cut of the currency because it's the lazy option. Luckily you don't like brd, because you'd pretty much need to get a ghorn first. Whm is in fact an awesome job for endgame, but it won't get you dyna burns. If an apoc is your big goal, level rdm or blm no doubt.

Level whatever you want with the understanding that you will have to farm for a long time to get your relic and may also have to pay a LS to help you get your attestation and fragment. I both didn't have an endgame shell and didn't do a static burn group to get the currency for my relic. Right place right time for both my attestation and fragment but just plain out farmed for the currency. It can be done. It's the harder road than others have suggested but ultimately if it's not fun you'll probably quit before you get there. You will have a couple things going for you though. 1: Money is easy to make here and 2: Currency is cheap here.

You don't need to level Brd or any mage if you don't want to - to achieve your goals, but they will certainly expedite the process. If you choose not to level those though, I would highly recommend leveling Thf at least to help with farming or camping NMs. Personally not the biggest fan of Bubu burns, though they are what makes relics actually possible on this server. That and only a daily lockout. I have never set foot in a bubu burn for the sake of currency, nor do I have Brd or any mage leveled on my main character and I have 3 relics.

Like Fmtwo said, gil is easy to make and currency is cheap.

Oh yeah, don't for a second doubt you can do it on your own steam. I got 2 relics, one I earned thru a 50/50 mix of burning and grinding gil, the other my EGLS helped me out with. It can be done. I just figure, this dude wants an EGLS anyway, rdm or blm is a good foot in the door.
