Both the fact that these are almost unkillable with any sort of traditional party, and that the drop rates seem pretty ass, makes people currently leveling NIN or RDM (myself as well as my LS....) really difficult, lol, as these items are necessary for those classes. Totally understand that a private server is going to have certain workarounds and stuff will be janky sometimes, but it's a pretty tough time to be a group of players in the 30s-40s.

Hope we see some word/change on these.

I emphathize with anyone stuck behind a progress wall, but it is valid to point out that many bcnm fights do not use standard parties - several are for 3 man fights, not 6 man parties.

OWNM are not so easily repeatable as a full team of folk trading seals for orbs.

While it may be a poor choice in hindsight, I wonder if there would be any appetite for making it possible to trade seals to something and "spawn" an OWNM on command?

I defer to the judgment of the one-man crew keeping this boat floating on his own dime. :-)

Regardless of traditional parties, strategy and whether they can be killed with 6 or 2 people. This is still a mob that can be killed only a little more than twice a day for the entire server replacing an infinitely repeatable event (as long as you have currency) and using the same drop rate. It is an inherently flawed system.

Yeah, I understand posts like mine may sound whiny and ungrateful, but the truth is it's just coming from a place of frustration, ya know? This server is dope, just tough to be walled and somewhat restricted in what classes you can choose to play.

Regarding standard parties, it's true that many took some wonky set-ups, but since there were many different fights to choose from, you could usually find something that you could do with the classes you had available to you, where this is just 1 fight carbon copied.

I'd truthfully love to hear how this is possible other than BLMs + RDM, or a similar pure Ranged + kite strat. I haven't been able to figure much out other than just abusing the huge zones and kiting around forever, lol. Which, is admittedly a viable strategy, just a bit silly and restrictive in the classes you can bring, which is pretty punishing to a newer group of players. The random nearly-one-shot breath attacks just make most other strategies a moot point, at least on the level 30 ones I've tried so far.

For what it's worth, the point of the end was to say "I get that Nas isn't at my beck and call to make my suggestion NAO." Apologies if it came off like I was deprecating you that post.

Jug Pet Army was also an old school way to murder some BCNMs, but I forget if BST are allowed to OWNM.

I empathize with your concerns. But once you find a strat that works, the rest is just patience.

I don't buy that, all the 40s we did with the exception of Rollanberry, which you can basically cheat, was pretty down to the wire with our group of 5 assorted mages and a COR/NIN kiter. Fights still took us around 25~ mins.

Random aside though, COR was pretty sweet on 'em, Earth/Fire shot seemed to almost always do full damage so I spent a lot of time just kiting. Made it easier on the mages.

Damn that 12 hour respawn alone sounds a good enough reason to increase drop rates on such required spells.. I had to repeat BCNM almost 40 times in the span of 3 months for my Utsusemi: Ni. With OW, assuming I can even get people to do it twice a week, that'd be almost a year. And then there's others needing the scrolls too who'd compete for the OW pop so it can even take longer.

Spells like Refresh should be hard, but definitely NOT Fafnir hard...

Just to clear it up. You can use BST and SMN on OWNMs now. The pet crash has been fixed.

This needs to be fixed as soon as possible, there are 0 Ni scrolls on the AH. If anything make these ownm's spawnable with beastmen seals that was a good idea until bcnm are fixed.

It's as much of a joke as it was in retail? It might be a joke if you are exploiting the incorrectly coded BLU spells, but aside from that it's not any easier than it ever was.
