Wolf is giving advice that is 100% the opposite of what I said, encouraging a player to ignore a rule I pointed out, trying to say that it doesn't apply to this. That's him trying to start trouble, given the previous discussions with Wolf and rules.

How many times does nas have to crack down on something that everyone else thinks "doesn't apply" only to be surprised afterwards that it did? Just don't do it. We don't need to have this discussion for the 100th time.

TBH I don't see a point for the application. Most mobile phones support modern web browsers and HTML5. I have no issues at all viewing all the quick links on my phone. It's like when companies make apps for their website but it adds no additional features over just viewing it in your web browser.

I appreciate the intensity of discussion here but I’m not comcerned with a rejection. I’m just doing this for fun. If Nasomi and his team find it useful and not determental to the server or players then that’s great. I’m excited. But I won’t be devastated by a rejection.

That being said the app will always be geared toward a better game expierience. I’d lock certain features unless you character is logged in, for instance advance party finding features. Wouldn’t want people to not be on and seeking, that would be bad.

If the app were to be approved for use the source code will be given to Nasomi’s team to ensure nothing is misused, like passwords or excessive server poling. I’d open source it for community contribution and review too if that makes sense.

Either way I started this to keep my new project prototyping speed up.

There is no nasomi "team" and your concerns with validating that it's "safe" are exactly why this isn't allowed. He isn't going to sit around vetting people's 'apps', publishing them, etc.

This isn't the place to try to make things for. Nas doesn't like it. A blog? Fan website? Whatever. An app that uses your game login info etc? No way. Nas has already removed website functionality because of people using it for more purposes than intended.

I really think you should ask Nasomi before doing something like this. Particularly when asking for the community to get involved. I know you said you would never charge for this app, but Nasomi doesn't know you and has no reason to trust you. And less reason to trust you when you start advertising an app on his forums that uses data from his site and databases and that you're developing without his permission/blessing.

I completely support you doing something like this as a pet project for your own learning/experiment, but I think you should ask Nasomi before taking this public.

Edit: although I do not support anything that involves Nasomi account access in-app.

Edit: I also contributed to the player age page being gone. That actually could be brought back since theres no real use for it anymore. From what we've experienced, whatever he has done to fix the randomness of auto claim was an awesome fix. One most of us endgame people truly appreciate.

Did he cite the third party rule while telling you to stop? Because there are plenty of independent reasons for him to oppose that sort of behavior (and this app).

If he did, that's a ridiculous interpretation. To my knowledge, nas hasn't specifically approved discord or any particular web browser either, but those are programs most of us use. Pepsi's interpretation is the reasonable one.

You've got a wild imagination if you think this is the same as using discord.
