At risk of looking like a conspiracy theorist. I have been checking the availability of NY VMs prior to posting my analysis for nearly a month and they were always sold out.. Within a short period after they suddenly available... Bizarre.
I've been afk but a couple thoughts:
- 5 MS latency is ridiculously fast. At that latency there is virtually no reason to use a VPN. It's not going to make the latency quicker to your client. Your traffic even though over a virtual network still has to take the publicly available routes to get there.
- As far as its not being a viable explanation. It's possible newly available VMs are on a different VM host/network and the routing is forcing their traffic out to the public internet. This would get you results closer to someone living near the DC, but not as fast as 1 hop Zigma.
- 1 Hop to a private server which has proxy VMs in data centers just can't be explained by normal activity. I'd love for Zigma to come out with what he is actually doing, to achieve a single hop route to the proxy.
- Good luck getting a good gaming setup on the VMs you can purchase. Please don't go run out buying these things thinking it will be easy and give you king ping status. Without lots of technical knowledge your likely not going to get a gaming experience that is viable.
I'm sorry man, I don't mean to come out rude but there is no easy way of saying this and I don't mean it negatively but as a word of caution. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Look man, anyone that has the knowledge of building, maintaining and supporting complex, low latency enterprise systems worth hundreds to millions of dollars just got a hell of a good laugh on what you're trying to get people to do here as if it's some magic bullet to low ping & latency.
You may squawk at what i'm about to say but you're playing a very dangerous game and you're putting people's accounts at risk. Word of advice to anyone here, I, do NOT recommend you do any of what this false god is doing unless you want to risk getting banned. Most shared hosting providers use static public IP addresses and NAT everything to whatever virtual machine you just purchased. Suppose someone goes along with this and uses this session for malicious shit. Congratulations, his or her account got flagged and your account got flagged as well because it's sharing the same Public IP address. Nasomi has a proven history of not bothering to separating who the real players are from the bad in situations like this. If you think I'm talking out my ass, just look at the 70+ Chinese accounts that got banned because they used a VPN service provider with 1 IP address to enhance their gaming experience -- and paid the price. Even if you are innocent, I can imagine it will take a long time for Nasomi to review your account and get you out of Jail.
THIS, my friend, is you.
https://streamable.com/camfgvThe Humming Bird Project -- GREAT MOVIE! Without spoilers, compared to you, I'm the asian guy at the end of the movie.
I may have just made you upset, hell, even mad but I've never stop anyone from learning and getting better at things but there are better ways, and if you are some junior guy with some working knowledge on how networking works and want to get better at it, take a couple of SANS classes. They're worth it. If you want to learn how to route your traffic over the internet, point to point, learn about BGP routing. Maybe deploy a VyOS instance and play around with it on your own time without grouping a bunch of sheep from the internet to run a POC for you - only to fall flat on your face :/
In closing, I, for one, don't play or connect to the game in any sort of method as described by you. I don't do any of the crap you're talking about and the moment I ever do such a thing, you can bet your bottom dollar the game will not be fun anymore. I saw the /tell you sent me like, 2 or 3 days ago and I smiled a bit because someone just figured out how to pull historical dns records from the internet. Yet, I never envisioned you would heard a group of sheep to believe the stuff you just spewed on here :/ Again, no offense. You sound like a smart guy but you're going down a wrong path.
