It would probably only result in more swings with a ninja having Dual Wield IV. The dual wield delay of say, a drk, would most likely result in less hits. I could be wrong though.

Like most questions in FFXI, people on Blue Gartr at least attempted to do the math a decade ago

Whether they did the math properly or whether it matters because we're on Nasomi I'll leave up to you

Dual wielding them for a zerg would be substantially more damage on Nasomi.

Well technically it would still work. I think dual-wielding KCs would be more hits per second than having just one. Someone do the math for me Im too tired.

Supposedly Kraken Club averages 3.82 attacks per round, so if Octave Club behaves the same you would average 7.64 attacks per round, but each attack round comes 70% as often ((268*2)*.85).

So essentially you'd hit 5.34 times per round instead of 3.82 for an increase of 40% more swings over time.

I think that's right.

Gonna give a lazy comment because I don't wanna math myself, but I think it wouldn't double the average hits per round having 2 because the cap at 8 will factor. I bet the second one is probably half as effective as the first, and then you get the dual wield reduction in speed. I think it would still be more hits than a single one, but not by a huge margin. Again, lazy comment with no math.

Assuming the average of 3.82 attacks per round is correct, let's play with numbers! Base delay of one Kclub = 268, or one attack round every 4.46 seconds. Dual wielded at 75 one attack round every 7.59 seconds. Souleater lasts a minute, so in a zerg the most attack rounds a Kclub wielding DRK could expect before haste would be 13 for an average of 49-50 attacks. Dual wielded would be 7 attack rounds, 53 attacks. If you wanted to factor in haste(For kicks n grins let's assume @ %50 haste for zerg scenario), one handed Kclub 134 delay, 2.23 seconds per attack round, 26 attack rounds with an average of ~99 attacks. Dual wielded = 3.79 seconds per attack round, 15 attack rounds, average of 114 attacks. Actually not a massive difference considering that 1 minute souleater is active is the one that really counts. The word average is important there, one handed Kclub can vary either higher (up to 26 * 8 = 208 in a minute), or lower (as low as 52). But since dual wielding them already places one very close to average 8 attacks every round, there's not much wiggle room for a dual wielded Kclub to bounce very much above 114 attacks a minute, the most they could hope for is a perfect 15 * 8 = 120 in a minute at %50 haste with an absolute floor of 60 if they got nothing but double strikes from each club for a solid minute.

So is it better to pray to RNGesus and wield one, or shoot for a tighter 110-120 nearly guaranteed attacks in a minute?

And just for shits n grins, nin w/ dual wield IV 375 delay, 6.2 seconds per attack round unhasted, 9 attack rounds per minute, 68 attacks per minute average. Full haste 187.5 delay, 3.125 seconds per attack round, 19 rounds per minute, average of 146 strikes per minute at haste cap. Assuming NIN/DRK using Souleater, that's a pretty disgusting amount of damage - but DRK main dualwielding Kclub type weapons would still edge it out by an order of magnitude due to having full effect of Souleater.
