We were all staring in awe the other night when our relic ranger did >5000 barrage to an outside jailer in sea (forget if it was prudence or hope). His damage output is still fucking bonkers even if he’s had to make some adjustments. Just because the nerf made the job shitty in merit parties doesn’t mean the job is useless or the relic is garbage. His RNG is still a welcome addition to much of the content we do.

It can barrage for good numbers every couple of minutes if you get triple damage procs. You still have to stand outside of your sweet spot to not eat AoEs for virtually anything meaningful you'd ever Rng on. And if you're standing in AoE range to be in the sweet spot you may as well just come a melee job because they'll do the same job but better 9 times out of 10 unless your melee DDs are garbage.

Due to the huge -enmity granted from coronach, our RNG can go much harder than our relic DD’s while still allowing our PLD to continue tanking. This is quite valuable for fights like JoL, Khimera, KS99 wyrm (and Tiamat) among others. Your points about sweet spots and AOE are still valid, but the nature of Coronach is so specialized and powerful that it still (imo) transcends the nerf. I hated the nerf too (for selfish reasons because it shit on THF) but this conversation started with a comment about Annihilator being useless, which is patently untrue because it’s still an amazing weapon.

Outside of JoL (coincidentally the only thing I bother coming Rng to these days)and Tiamat, I'd argue the same point regarding the other content mentioned. A DD/Nin can basically tank all of those without many issues no Pld/Nin really required depending on your setup. Yeah anni is still great on some content admittedly even in its gimped form, but one shouldn't have to build a relic to be useful lol. I guess that was my point. I'd say the majority of the playerbase agrees that the job isn't worth the trouble considering you rarely see any more than maybe 20 rangers online out of 1200-1400 at any given time.

I don't really disagree with your points, it just wasn't the conversation I was originally commenting on. I was responding to this statement specifically which is why I keep referencing Relic RNG. It wasn't my intent to debate what happened to the job itself, it was to disagree with the underlined part of the quote above. Somehow the conversation topic shifted more towards the viability of the job but that wasn't my original intent. It's just kinda impossible to talk about annihilator without also discussing RNG.
