There are some very stupid people playing this video game. I suppose this is why there are no aggressive creatures at the beginning. Then they would need to know how to press the movement keys, or make the logical connection that if something killed them then they should be more careful. I'm not exaggerating either (if I suppose I am even among people who think I might be), I don't know what kind of hole some of these vile things live in...but keep your fantasy lives of insulting complete strangers to yourself. What kind of sad life you must live that you spend your free time typing insults onto a computer screen.

No. It’s a genuine, serious question. What drugs are you on? I ask because I care.

This is a good thread to come by with coffee in hand in the morning.

I've never seen such a condescending person so unworthy of their self-entitlement. You're obviously unable to grasp this game and its early intricacies, yet undermine the skill level of the people who play it by spouting off "difficult" games you used to play in your "heyday". Your responses are so off the wall honestly they do resemble someone who is on some serious medication. So again, I'm inclined to repeat the question that was asked earlier in this thread.

Just go Play UO Outlands. It's poppin at 1400 unique ip players rn. You can immediately start fighting orcs and undead in the newbie dungeons.

This server is full of care bear no-lifes who don't know what a game with consequences is. The majority of your journey to level 75 will be spent fighting little plants, rabbits, lizards, bats, dhalmels, and so forth. Endgame exp parties kill birds. This game is Time = Power and 0% difficulty with little consequence for failing/dying. There's nothing to do with the gear once you spend an insane amount of time getting it. To top it all off, the coding is all done by 1 guy who refuses to share power with anyone and hardly gets anything meaningful done. Updates are holiday oriented with an unorganized span of fixes that end up breaking other things.

Disclaimer: I say this noting his list of other games notable Daoc, UO, ect. These games have a more hardcore skill-based approach that the usual FFXI player would fail to grasp.

Requesting that this conversation be moved to the "FFXI Meme thread".

Trying to attribute real life properties to a video game is just not working out. obviously, neither passive nor aggressive mobs have any sort of innate, unprogrammed intelligence and dont make choices for themselves based on the virtues of real life. i'd even argue that its righteous to "kill" (take hit points to zero) all of them since otherwise a mob might not serve any purpose in its virtual existence... so sad =<

Who is the bad guy now?!

I will just say this: you can fight Lv1 beastmen in some zones.

Notably, Horutoto Ruins in Windurst have aggressive Lv1 Beastmen. If you can avoid links that can be your home till Lv15 or so, everything in there is aggressive except the bats.

Following this, there are plenty of areas with JUST aggressive mobs that you can beat up. Look up a wiki page for some of the zones and check whether something is aggressive and only engage it.

You will still be able to exp in a party btw, since some parties do kill just aggressive mobs. And endgame is practically all aggressive mobs, except for a few that you wouldn't be able to kill.

Only reason I am answering seriously is because it has a degree of challenge to it. Most beastmen also drop decent loot (and a bit of gil) so you could easily afford new gear.

Troll or not lmao... There is absolutely nothing requiring skill in this game, unless you count basic communication and ability to follow directions (lol..and players can't even do that). Not to mention that 75% of the community doesn't bother with the "intricacies" that were built into the game like skill chains and magic bursts. It's easier to cheese, pretend something was difficult, and pat yourself on the back because you sat on your ass for hours hardly doing anything more than chatting in a scuffed chatroom.

I will agree most of the community chooses the path of least resistance, than claims to be so good at a game that they choose to only play the easy and mindless way. They mindlessly level TP based jobs without any intricacies to the party system, then dump those TP jobs to never use again on any relevant endgame content. Instead they choose to kill things at a snails pace because they can, by fighting things the easy way with mages and SMNs.

I will say you're overestimating the skill necessary in these other games tho, FFXI would have been more popular if it didnt have the degree of difficulty that it does have. It kind of annoys me when people downplay the skill needed in this game after theyve played it for a decade and perfected it.

Gather some friends at level 1 and start teeing off on beastmen in the starting areas. Your XP/hour will be horrible and you'll be gil starved due to being in a party. Maybe fill your spare time with fishing to get some gil rolling in to make up for the critical lack of solo crystal and mat farming you'll be doing.

It's doable, it's going to be a very slow crawl though.
