28 pages later some people still don't understand the issue. Let's break it down.
1. Many Chinese players are using the same VPN to connect to Nasomi's server. From Nasomi's perspective, all of these accounts appear to be coming from one
Public IP. In other words, from one location.
It's not against his rules to play multiple accounts from one location (IP). However it is against his rules to cheat. Therein lies the rub.
2. Some of these accounts are cheating. Not all. Nasomi is not saying all of them nor is he saying how many. The number is irrelevant.
3. Nasomi can only ban accounts and ban IP addresses. That is to say, he can stop an IP address (or range of addresses if need be) from connecting to his server. It's a bit like blocking a spam caller on your phone, same idea.
4. If anyone is cheating from a single IP he has no choice but to ban the IP regardless of how many people are playing from it.
This is important. He can also ban accounts, but if those accounts are going to connect from the same IP, banning the IP has the same result with the
negative effect of banning all the legitimate players too.
5. He has two choices: let all these Chinese players play which will keep the cheaters in, or ban the single IP they play from which bans everyone.
So you can see, he cannot make a decision here that will make everyone happy. Since his solution falls under his set of rules and he does not like cheaters, he chooses to ban the single IP. Then somehow the thread dissolves into people who
aren't playing from one IP throwing shit at each other which is both not-on-topic and also pointless to the issue.
It's also entirely pointless for the Chinese players to post screenshots of who they are since it doesn't really prove anything and all they are doing is putting their private information on the internet, though I admire their resolve and love for the game. I really do feel for the legit players among them and it's probably only a couple that are cheating, but thems the rules and they exist for reasons.
