I would like details from Nas here. People have talked about doing this quite publicly on the forums, and several of them have said Nas said it was ok.

On retail you could buff lower levels with songs and they would get the buff effect, but it would be a shortened duration. Not sure if this difference puts it into broken enough that it's against the rules, or just similar to other nas vs. retail differences.

I didn't play when level sync existed so I don't know how things interacted there.

Did you all not play FFXI retail? I mean maybe it's been so long I don't remember but one thing that sticks out that if a 75 touched a mob, anything below 50-60's wouldn't get any exp at all. Nasomi's exp mechanics are different as is everything on nasomi vs retail so you just gotta ask if that difference is considered an exploit or "nasomi mechanics".

People will probably do what they've always done, keep doing it until Nasomi fixes it or he never does and it just becomes a "feature".

XP was gradually reduced, but a level 40 would get XP for a level 75 killing a mob that provided the 75 with XP, as best as I can remember from retail.

BRD PL songs always lasted full duration. You just couldn't sing while mobs were being fought or exp would be registered as a 75 killing/acting on the mob.



Wrong. There is(always has been) a percentage penalty for partying with higher level members. On retail I actually made some meripo PTs RDM BRD COR 3x DD when I was early 60s RDM.

Up to -37 levels under party level (highest level of the party e.g. level 37 blm in a party with a 75 blm would get a drastically reduced ammount of exp, e.g#2 level 35 blm in a party with a 75 blm would get no exp.)
Idk how low the -lvl calculation goes here, never really gave 2 shits, but in retail the 40-ish blm in the OPs nerdrage would still get exp.

Edit: I could be wrong on the -37 levels, but the exp % at -37 levels would result in single digits for VT at 75 if my math is right, either way OP gets destroyed from every angle.
Protip: stop trying to get ppl banned, when you're just mad someone was killing your exp mobs. Have some integrity....

I could have sworn they had reduced duration on low levels. But you're the third person that has told me I'm wrong on this, so I must be misremembering. Probably conflating it with all the other buffs.

It was actually the original leaders of your shell + Giggle who started this on Nasomi years ago in Ordelles/Palborough when still in Alpha btw. Nas was more forgiving back then so they got away with handslaps.

Yeah that sounds about right. Maybe my guesstimate of 50 was too high. Probably one thing that's helping the nasomi calc/this party is the fact they are fighting lvl 86 mobs so the low levels aren't being penalized as much.

SMN burning is still kinda sorta a thing, you just need an outside puller and for someone in the SMN party to -ga (poisonga, diaga, whatever) all the mobs before they die or most of them won’t give exp. Not an exploit IMO as long as the puller doesn’t use spikes, though you could argue it’s bending the *intent* of the mechanics a bit. It’s good fun for lowbie levels in Qufim/Gusgen/Landing and such.

As for cheesing exp in Mt. Z, didn’t we already have this debate back in the SMN-burning days? Plenty of people leveled COR/BRD/RDM up back then and as far as I know no one was jailed over it, unless they were abusing sync bugs or something (which was pointless when the mobs were Lv99). Sure, Nas “fixed” it by adding a resist calc to meteor and implementing a new aggro mechanic you BPs (the thing where the mob has to be red or you draw hate) but he didn’t immediately shit a brick when people just switched over to using Diabolol instead.

I know Nas made a mention about Mt. Z in Naschat at one point, and I think one person might’ve been de leveled over it, but for all I know that’s either a rumor or there were other circumstances involved. Either way, it’s 100% not cheating/exploiting as much as it might be abusing the *intent* of mechanics as Nasomi interprets them. If Nas really wanted to fix it, he could just remove the mobs entirely or nerf their level down to like lv10 and make it not worth it anymore.

Of course, all that said, if Nas wants to arbitrarily hang a couple folks from the gallows as an example for violating his own interpretation of what he wants his rules to look like, then that’s up to him. If you don’t wanna end up swinging one day, then don’t partake in any brow-raising misadventures.
