Perhaps it's simpler just to tell people to farm bird blood and watch them all start living in Bubu? Maybe we could get some parties going over there and make Valkurm a little more bearable?

Maybe but if they're just starting out I don't think they can solo the leeches. I'm always down for a Buburimu party :) my friends and I don't even bother with attempting to party in the dunes. Not going to derail another thread though... got scolded for derailing that other one lol.

:ugeek: I don't understand why people are complaining about making money on Nas.
When I think about my memories of retail back in the day most of what comes to mind is my being broke and trying to find ways to make gil. I dunno about anyone else but when I play a new MMO in 2018 money is almost NEVER an issue anymore. I like my games to be like capitalism :P Free market, none of that bind to user commie BS. This game is more beautiful because half the player base is broke xD

If a person is running around with an Apocolypse on they back you probably gonna /check them right? That person IMO is dope. I think to myself ... I want one of those ... :(

However, if everyone is awarded an Apocolypse upon reaching DRK 75 well sh!! what's the point?

I think part of the magic that is playing FFXI is the collection of gil, and not only that but the value of gil and the items you can obtain with it. You might have 30 mil in FFXIV but that's not really saying much. I would fish up minions in that game and sell them for like 3m the same day and be like huh would you look at that I just made 7 figures... now, what can I buy with it? Nothing really useful? Shucks. However, in FFXi you get that much money and you're rollin' up to the party in yo brand new PCC and double Snipey Snipies + 1 baby 8-)

If you're the type of person who doesn't enjoy the satisfaction of wealth gained from hours of research, experimentation and grinding then this probably isn't the game for you. I don't mean to be mean, it just sounds like you want an easier game...

Basically, don't be lazy. Get a job! When I was a newb I never struggled with money. Thank Nasomi you have all that blessed inventory space and you can list more than 7 items on the AH what more you want lol.

While I agree with your sentiment @Saleam, it is undoubtedly difficult and grindy to start here on Nasomi. Of course people are going to complain.

Maybe I am weird but I didn't find it overly difficult or grindy. I think a lot of people on Nas forget about local quests. A lot of them are super easy and give 500-5,000 gil for little to no work. I think the first week I did as many as I could and walked out close to 50k in gil and was still only level 5. Then you have your repeatables like the Bat Wing and Rabbit Hide quests.

Considering the recent influx of new returnees, adding to supply can only cause the price of moat carp to decrease. It is the effect of supply increasing while the demand stays static. Advertising this method as a way to make gil will only certainly make it a less effective method to earn gil, thus defeating the purpose.

Also for the love of god, don't undercut ridiculously if you want this method to be sustainable for awhile. Your fish will sell you just need to have more patience than a five year old.

Still holding steady a week later.

Well that's the beauty of the free market right? Each person who wants a Lu Shangs needs 10,000 carp. Roughly 830 stacks. That is a LOT of carp. As someone who bought his Lu I can say it was a way better decision than trying to fish them up. I can make the money to fund a Lu much faster than I can fish 10k carp. So just one person needing it basically funds the carpiconomy for 1~2 weeks. If the price of carp goes up by 1k that's like 800k more than what the person initially budgeted for, so you prolly wont have much luck trying to upsell your fish. On the other hand the price probably wont go below 3k because then it just wouldn't be worth the fisher's time. It's honestly a pretty genius MMO economy stimulus lol.

See, I never looked at this way until you worded it like that. I used to think it was just SE being SE, but it really does stimulate the economy for new players quite effectively. One of the things I love about XI is that, apart from some rare NM drops, almost your entire gear set comes from crafters. The economy is one of the best things about XI imo.

it has nothing to do with the grind its the fact im trying to earn money just to get level 10 gear so i can even survive a bit in valkurm which is how you get to selbina in the first place.

You can run to Selbina as a level 1 job. As Epyon said you can even do 0-5 in your starter city, although I'd recommend Selbina as you can isolate Jellyfish easily. Nothing is going to be handed to you here, it is up to you to find ways to make gil/advancements to your character.

I had no forum posts telling me how to make gil, I found my own ways.

where did I ask for anything to be handed to me? I am just trying to find ways to you know ... gear up and play the game. Yes i get it the game is a grind I played back when the game came out so i know that.

I've always had 100s of thousands of gil, I don't fish, and I don't craft. I found the best way to get money even starting right off is killing easy preys. This will allow you to level plus amass lots of gil. You can do repeatable quests, auction your crystals and stacks of items etc. I try to usually keep beastmen in my EP farming mix because they drop scrolls and armor pieces that you can vendor. With a little bit of research you can combine farming + some decent xp + progressing through quests and stuff.

I'm told you that you can just camp Spook and become rich.
