And please swap gear.
Its perfectly ok to have a tp set, a SA set, a TA set, a SA+WS set, and TA+WS set and even a Racc set, evasion set, and a combined sata set.
Thf strongly relies on 2 1 min cooldowns (espcially post 60). Get everything you can out of them.
Check the formulas for SA and TA - they essentially add wDmg..which on nasomi is huge

Using /BST is a viable option, although it is even more dangerous than playing BST main. Expect to spend a lot on Bloody and Sleep bolts.

My advice is to learn your camps, learn the good party setups, invite players of higher nation rank who don't have gimp or questionable subjobs, and most of all, be known for being a good player. That means knowing the job, having good gear, skills capped, using status bolts, and being a fast puller. Take mental notes of who's good in your group for future reference, because you'll likely be playing with them again soon. If all of the above are in check, you'll be known for it, and getting a party or building one will be that much easier.

That aside, THF is just as good of a DD as anyone else. The trouble is that its maximum potential is situational, and that situation requires team effort and coordination. I think a lot of people would just rather skip the THF than have to deal with the hassle of setting up for them.

It's crazy how hard it is to stand on a monster's butt for some people.

I just don't really understand the stance of going through the effort to play, and live, on a game that is almost two decades old for the sole purpose of how grindy and demanding it is... to then be like "Well yeah.. but I'm not like going to move my character that much."

i dunno. I don't party with THFs all that much because most of them suck, not because I think it's too much work to be with the good ones.

You want to make yourself more valuable as a THF for exp parties:
- be a good puller
- haste set is best set
- be the coordinator for SATA and skill chains/mb
- list in your search comment the things that make you a good choice
- use your alt to PL

Basically make yourself an asset. Otherwise party makers will just see you lfp and go "oh another lolthf, pass".

Edit: let me add that while gear swapping is fine you dont need 4 or 5 sets of gear to level in exp party. Just used Haste + Acc to build TP, then stack Dex + Agi > Str for sata and ws.

A lot of great info in the thread. Here are some great points mentioned, and some I added myself:

Don't neglect your Marksmanship.
- Use, and upgrade your Xbow with +1s as you level up (usually about every 10 levels)
- Use macros to swap bolts and ranged acc/atk gear. Acide bolts are the only ones your group will actually care about, but doesn't hurt to bring sleep and bloody bolts anyways.
- Weave a ranged attack between your auto attacks to stick Defense Down, deal more damage, TP, etc.
- For the love of god, don't use a boomerang

Hide is not just a free Sneak/Invis... its great for a few things:
- Use when you get an add that your party cannot handle. It will drop them from your enmity list, and in some cases despawn them.
- Even better, for those parties that really just dont aim to accommodate a THF, you can use SATA+Hide+WS to get full damage on your WS even if the mob is
facing you.

Most AF is not good for exp. If Someone see's you running around in AF with the bonnet and vest... you're probably gonna get overlooked for a party invite.
- Use the Rogue armlets for TP & WS set. Unless you can afford Akinji Bazubands for TP set.
- Use Rogue's Culottes for WS set only, and maybe for a Ranged attack set, but Bravo subligar's got +3 Ranged Acc which is probably better anyways
- Macro your Rogue's Poulaines in to your Flee macro, and thats it. (You can use them if you dont have bounding/Winged boots)

Having 2 High damage Daggers is not really a good idea. THF is not valuable for their auto attacks, even with the highest damage weapons possible. Aim to have a low delay weapon in your offhand.
- At 48, you can get a Hornet Needle pretty easily and its the best offhand weapon until 69 where you can camp for a Sirocco kukri which is your best offhand dagger until you can get your hands on a Ridill.
- Having a 2nd high damage weapon may come in handy for parties where you fight some high defense mobs where you may hit for 0 sometimes (Beetles for example). Having an offhand weapon thats too weak
will increase the odds of this happening.

Haste is awesome. But sometimes you wanna substitute in more Accuracy.
- Love Rapparee harness and swift/speed belt, but if youre EXPing on mobs that have high evasion, or you dont have a bard, and the mobs are higher level than your gear can land hits on even with the best gear,
substitute your harness and swift belt for a Scorpion harness and life belt. Your TP gain will be faster even though you're slower.

Pulling is your top priority, then Damage
- Establish a reasonable mob hp% where you can stop attacking and pull a new mob. This can vary greatly depending on the camp, and how fast your party kills.
- Don't leave your party idle while you're pulling.
- Don't try to get the last hit to finish off a mob, if you're gonna have to go long for the next pull. Just save your TP to pin enmity of the next mob on your tank.
- You control the flow of Exp the party can make. Play THF like a hecking BRD if you have to lol.
- I reiterate an earlier point; For the love of god don't use a boomerang. Ever.

Do not Macro your SATAWS into 1 macro...
- This is terrible. What I do see pretty often is a THF hecking up his SATA WS by getting an auto attack weaved in before the WS goes off resulting in a 12 dmg Viper bite. Also, mitigate this by waiting for an auto
attack before you start your SATA+WS or SATA+HIDE+WS.

Macros and Equipsets... Dont Viper Bite in your TP gear, BRO!
- This shouldn't be so common in THFs since its a fundamental for any DPS job, yet I see it so often. You're missing out on a lot of damage if you aren't stacking that DEX, AGI, Attack, STR into those
weaponskills.
- This is a preference, and you can do it differently... but I macro a lot of my equipsets and skills all separately. SA, TA, Hide, and WS are all separate, and i have 1 macro for TP gear, and 1 for WS gear. It can
probably optimized better if i put the WS gearset into the WS macro, but it could cut out the animation of your WS and also not display a Skillchain in the logs, or even animation resulting in confusing anyone
who was trying to MB.

Dont wanna get too into gear, and cant think of much else right now, but if you are still thinking about Soloing to 75, I was actually hitting chain 5-6 soloing Tough Ogre Bats in KRT at lvl 60 THF/NIN. Just gotta go when there isn't a party tearing shit up in there haha.
This is the kind of play that will get you recognized and reinvited to parties. I got from 60 to 67 this past week without soloing, and with limited play time. You can too!

Great tips. If you still get lot of auto-attacks in between, just move a bit out of range to execute the macro (WS lands from a pretty good distance).
