Turned down a few exp parties tonight because I didn't wanna subject other members of the party to having to chase the mob around the whole time, I elected to solo instead. I was looking forward to this job so much, guess I shouldn't have put it off now.

Yeah, I had a party with a ranger last Sunday and this is exactly what happened. The hate was everywhere, we were chasing the mob around half the time. It's such a bummer, man. I haven't leveled ranger any, but I do feel for those who were leveling it or wanted to main it.

I feel for those, myself included, who basically had a few million gil taken out of their pocket because ebow is now worthless >_>

Joined Nasomi 3 months ago and have since been pursuing the goal of having a decked out RNG. Farmed countless hours and saved all my moneys and purchased an ebow the night before the evisceration of RNG. The job was great fun to level 0-66 and though strong never felt overpowered or out of place in a party. It took 3 party attempts after the nerf for me to decide to hang up RNG indefinitely. I'd be content if the changes made the job more fun/interesting and less viable. They however make the job less fun/interesting and less viable. Just a shit update and a lose/lose all around.

THFs are more viable, pure tanks with high spike aggro are more viable. All other jobs that lost their party spots to RNGs are now more viable. Other ranged weapon builds are slightly more viable now potentially. None of this really is an excuse to butcher a job like this change does, but it is the reality of the server right now. There ARE pros that come out of this change, sadly just about none of them pertain to RNG.

I feel you my dude, I got my ebow a few days before the big ranger nerf, that 3 million would have gone a long way on another job. I definitely would not have bought it had I known this was coming. I did know there would be a change to ranged but I stupidly believed in Nabutso saying it wasn't going to be a bad change. I also stupidly believed that Nasomi would not implement the ranged nerf as he said he would not but yeah, lesson learned.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to do.I'm sure I can continue to level Ranger and face the fact it might take longer and I won't be getting merit parties or I could work on my 53 thief, but as Locke said a few posts back ranged attacks are also screwed up for thieves needing to be 4 yalms away to hit the mob with your bolt when you solo is impossible. So this ranged change effects both of my leveled jobs negatively.

I guess I could always roll SAM like everyone else does and abuse the non nerfed penta even though it's actually in era for it to be nerfed.

Now most ppl have calmed down, I'll share my 2 cents :

I'm fine with most changes as long as they tend to make the game feel more like end of ToAU without the WoTG content/changes (remember ToAU wasn't finished until long after WoTG came out).

But this isn't the distance thing SE did, which was a nerf, this is 10 times worse. Flooring racc at melee range is the worst idea ever, you barely get any tp from that simply because you're not gearing for it while trying to shoot, acc is gonna be trash, you're not wearing any haste. And as others have pointed out, this ruins more than just RNG gameplay or xp parties.

Nasomi, you gotta tone down that shit.

I agree. This really makes Thf's using any type of bolts (bloody and sleep) in solo situations and acid in exp parties unreliable at best.
