From what I've gathered, the advantages are: The items won't get undercut as fast.
Let me know if theres anything to add to that list. lol
1) Items don't get undercut as fast (It's hard to understate this. When everyone starts trying to sell the same items at the same time prices drop fast)
2) Centralized tracking of OWNM items
2a) I know what items are for sale within the LS. There's an LS discount, so this is useful for perusing potential purchases.
2b) I know what items I have pending sales. Gives me an idea of future income potential.
2c) I know how much money I have to pick up. My destiny is in the hands of two people - myself, and the bank. I don't have to chase or be chased down by whoever was selling whatever random item from the run
2d) Less shrinkage. Things are handed off to the bank, and if the bank can't hold them at the time it's tracked who has the spares. We know who to chase down when we need to put some more up for sale.
3) I don't have to bother trying to sell stuff myself, or keep track of stuff myself. Or for other people. Some of these sub-points tie in with point 1 on the undercutting, but they're more of an organization problem.
3a) It's easier for one person to keep a mule up regularly in Jueno vs. everyone having to. And if we want to not undercut each other, having to track everyone's Jueno mule, and what they have up for sale
3b) A centralized point for bargaining on item prices. No bidding against ourselves with potential buyers, no having to keep track of who has what item to point potential buyers too, etc. People know RFK do a lot of OWNMs and frequently ask us about buying the drops, even if we might not have one on hand. We can point them to the same place where this can be kept track of, instead of playing telephone back and forth and the right thing maybe happening
4) Some people are just flat out better at managing items and selling them than others. I love my RFK ls-mates, but some of them are awful at selling things. I don't even mean not contributing to being undercut, but just paying attention to market trends, knowing when you can raise prices, knowing when you need to lower prices, keeping items up consistently, managing them on the AH, etc. It can be a pain in the ass, which is why I'm also perfectly okay with the bank/auctioneer/whatever you want to call it taking a commission.
5) Facilitates better tracking via a spreadsheet. Giving limited permissions isn't just a trust thing, but it also prevents people with good intentions from fucking things up. One person keeping up with the spreadsheet and managing who has what item, who has the spares that the bank can't hold at the moment, who has been paid out, etc., is all necessary with the volume of items RFK splits. Trying to have everyone manage their own spreadsheets means people don't stay in the habit and things get missed, people have to look at multiple spreadsheets to figure out what is out there, etc.
6) Helps us know when we should have further LS sales. If we're sitting on a stack of 10 sorc rings and they're selling slow, well, maybe we double the LS discount. This ties in to other points, but centralized management helps us better understand our inventory and what we can do with it. Or maybe we do a Christmas sale and everything gets a deeper discount.
7) It's aspirational. New members come in, see the spreadsheet, see the money people can make, and get excited. They want to get involved and help make sure we keep the ToDs and are out there on time. This means there's less chance I have to log in at 7 in the morning to keep a ToD for us because someone else is now hungry and has seen the sort of results that can be achieved. Yeah, it's ultimately motivated by greed, but we try not to invite dickheads (excluding present company

) into the LS, so it generally just means people are excited to be involved in one of the regular events the LS does and keeps them interacting with people. Just /check'ing people's gear doesn't do it, because plenty of people in RFK made that money with crafting, or Bubu, or some specific NM or another, and people wouldn't know exactly where it came from - but with the bank spreadsheet, they can directly see the results of OWNM camping.
There's a handful of other things too, but I kind of feel like I'm already going overboard. These are RFK-style LS specific and not the same thing as selling all drops to fund relics or whatever. No comment on those banks.
