idk about for you but for me this era was dominated by the widely held belief that moon/day/directions all had a role in crafting and belief shapes reality so for that to be true here on nasomi does not detract from the era experience for me at all and only enhances my enjoyment by adding complexity to what would otherwise be a bland and boring system like WoW's crafting
some eras were dominated by believing the world was flat. That didn't make the world flat. You can still believe in myths all you want, I prefer the game to not be controlled by them. Again, just a personal belief.
Just so you understand, Wolf, why some of us hate this change so much. We didn't create this system. We got to know it and learned it because it was the system in place. It was fun. You could hit strong versions of tiers and weak versions. There was meaning to everything you did. And you planned out your crafting to go along with the moon phases that you needed. The way those moon phases gave boosts to tiers certainly could've been toned down for sure. When t2s could reach near 50%, that may have been a bit much. I made 6 royal cloaks in a row one day. That's kinda silly. The entire system didn't need gutting though. There was thinking and math involved and if you did it right and didn't get very unlucky, it worked. I played retail for a little less than a year. The popular HQ items were harshly priced and if you didn't want to spend every waking moment making gil, you just had to settle with nq everything pretty much. I didn't like retail. That's probably why I played there less than a year.
I don't understand people who want specific things on this server to be just like retail when there are so many aspects of it that clearly aren't. We have bcnm drops sitting on wyverns that level cap you if you agro them. We have sack, satchel and case. We have blue portals that nasomi can activate to port us anywhere he wants us to gather. We have chat/iri staves and no city tax in lower jeuno. We're allowed to have 3 characters logged in at once. We have akamochi and fruit parfaits. PW is laughably killable and we have fresh 75 sams rocking hachi bodies and nanas. We have so many things that make this server way more enjoyable than retail. That beautiful crafting system was one of them. It made HQ items attainable. Not easy. Attainable. This new system is going to create much much much higher prices for those of us that like HQ items.
Hi Aeroo - I apologize if it seemed like I didn’t understand the benefits of the system. I do, I enjoyed cheaper HQ items too obviously. I was looking forward to crafting, like I mentioned, and now will probably not bother. That bums me out. I sympathize with people that got used to the system, or did things and spent time doing things because of the way the system was and now that was wasted. I’m sorry if it seemed like I didn’t.
My only point was that while Nasomi isn’t a perfect era match, we are playing here and it’s so popular because of the ways it is like the era we all loved. Those things you mentioned that aren’t.. are QOL of things done to make the game feel like era in lieu of being able to actually do it (OWNM’s specifically), or things that haven’t been coded yet to work properly (PW among others). My point was... when Nas manages to get another part of the game closer to retail, people shouldn’t complain and wish he didn’t. He’s made it clear that was his goal. Yeah, he’s given things like Chat and food and extra inventory space. That doesn’t mean he’s obligated to keep those things, or other things not like retail when he figures out how to do it better, in his mind. I liked the old system too, especially as someone who wasn’t crafting. I just don’t think we should complain when a server with a stated purpose makes another advancement towards that stated purpose. That’s all. I hope everyone keeps crafting, and charges fair profits for their hard work. It’s cool to see all the research. Thanks for the thoughtful response, man.
