It's impossible to make where you stand matter in terms of damage and accuracy and it not be a substantial nerf to RNG.

I'm not sure how to state that more simply and clearly.... Harleym asked a good question, it turns out.

unless, I guess, that optimal range is 20+ yalms and is decided when you start your shot.... and then that'd be a gigantic nerf to meriting/xp'ing for RNG.

You can use more than weaponskills to deal damage, you know. You can go just.. shoot normal ranged attacks, you know that, right? This doesn't just apply to weaponskills.

Unless the distances for MORE damage than before aren't much different than what you have always been doing, of course?

And for the penalty to be quite small, of course.

Mind if I ask what the reasoning behind the change was? Perhaps if we got a glimpse of Nasomi's reasoning, it may alleviate some people's worry. Right now it seems like a change for the sake of a change. Was RNG, the way it was before this, not acceptable?

Just trying to wrap my head around it.

It is a huge nerf.

Even ignoring WS being broken, OWNMs are now shitty as a Ranger - racc seems to be heavily reduced outside of the sweet spot as well. Any kite fight is going to have the same issue.

It's a major nerf for merit/xp parties, as previously mentioned.

There is nothing positive about this for rangers. Doing a bit more damage at some point where you were barely ever be is not balance.

Just trying to wrap my head around it.

A bug with weapon delay was discovered that, when fixed, would allow for RNGs to build insane amounts of TP at close range. This is mostly to deter you from meleeing while ranging. But nothing is stopping you from doing so - you still build TP faster while meleeing, and it could still be worth it because of that. People just need to -actually try it out-.

That's the reasoning that I've heard from nas as far as I understand it.

So you've killed some OWNMs, done merit/exp parties, etc, within the past hour since the maint came out?

Ha my Bst has gone down....My Rng is taking a hit.....at least no one will touch my Thf!!!! Seriously..... no one will touch my thf.....ugh. I need to do a better job selection.

I think he wants it as close to era as possible even if those changes hurt QoL. I don't see the value in that reasoning either, but its his server.

THF and other low-delay weapon users should feel better after this maint since the bug with weapon delay will affect low delay weapons more significantly than long-delay weapons.
