First off, loving this. So glad to be able to play this game again after not playing in over 10 years. Now I’m playing FFXI with my wife and hopefully my daughter soon has interest. So cool. Anyway, I played my character to level 33 and want to start over with a new race. Am I able to trade my Gil/equipment from my established character to my 2nd, or is that a no no? I see it says in the rules you can’t control 2 characters at once, so I don’t want to get in trouble as I love the server too much. And if we can’t trade between even a mule and my main, what is the point of a mule? I’m probably reading too much into things but I have anxiety issues and want to make sure what I’m doing is ok. Thanks to who can help me out!

That phrase about controlling 2 chars really confuses new players, and most definitely could have been worded clearer. It refers to using software to enable one mouse action/keystroke to control more than one character simultaneously. It is not in reference to regular dual-boxing, which a large portion of players on Nasomi do. You are more than welcome to use a second instance of the game, log in with another character, and play them together... which includes auto-following on your main to help heal your new character, trading items/gil between the 2, and alt-tabbing between them during gameplay.

Some restrictions do apply and are very important. At no time EVER ever do things like fishing, logging, mining (any HELM) on more than one character at the same time. Also spend some time on the Nasomi acct webpage and properly setup your characters as Main, Alt, Mule. Your Mule will be restricted to town other than move it directly to another town, will have a lvl cap (10 I think?), and will be solely for crafting, selling items via Bazaar, etc.

You can have all 3 clients open at once if you want, main and alt can play and fight together just can't harvest/excavate/logging/mining/fishing (HELMF) on more than 1 character at a time, and mule is stuck at level 10 and in a town. Can do crafting on all 3 though. Your wife can have 3 characters also, although all 3 of hers will need to be on her own forum account. However the 1 HELMF rule applies to your household. So between you, your wife, and possibly your daughter only 1 of you, at any time, can be actively involved in HELMF. All 3 of you can have a main and alt and form a 6p party and static everything if you want, and all 3 of you can have a mule setting in town with bazaars up, but keep in mind that activity is fairly easy to track, and if Nasomi tracks you and feels like you're 1 person playing 3 accounts, he won't ask any questions, you'll just be banned, then the burden of proving you're innocent, becomes your own. Good luck and happy hunting though ^^

Years ago when me and my wife started playing I was worried about the same thing so I contacted Nasomi on NasChat and asked, and he gave me the green light. It might pay off for you to try the same, just realize he's got enough to do that he might not respond quickly. And definitely, make sure your characters are linked to one forum account, and your wife's characters to a separate account.
