On a serious note, the holidays are a happy time of the year and can also be lonely and depressing. The Christmas marketing machines are in full force. I just wanted to say that I will be playing during the holidays even with family and friends coming and I look forward to kicking ass in game with all of you. Good points. My wife and I both play. Were expecting our first son this week and still play over holidays and plan to play as much as we can even when he is here. Less going out and more staying in just means we will play .

One key component you outlined is the Christmas Marketing machine. Playing FFXI saves money from going out to eat/bars/movies, etc. !

Speaking of holidays, I wish we could get exp rings for longer than 48 hours. 99% of people can't really play during Christmas Day or Boxing Day. So which days do we get exp rings? .. yeah, those days!

It feels punishing to only enable them at a time we can't really commit time to FFXI. Let's have them a little longer, yeah?

I believe Nasomi has specifically said he turns the xp rings on during holidays for those who don't have families or don't celebrate those holidays.

yeah. he also does it for those who have families that exclude them for various reasons, such as a queer gender or sexual identity or ownership of a pet dog
