- There seems to be a lot less text chat, everyone is on Discord.
Yeah, most folks end up in a small pile of Discord servers, mostly because it's just a more convenient when people aren't always online but might be willing to jump on real quick to do a thing
- "afk brb" went from grabbing a snack or doing something leisurely to putting the kids to bed. I guess we did grow up huh?
heh yup, it's just an expectation these days... on a related note, it's a far different game for these folks now that *time* is one of the most valuable assets we have. Many of us pay out the ear to save time on things, and do our best to optimize playtime as much as possible (which gets to be even more interesting with dual-boxing being allowed)
- xp parties are most successful in the evening and weekends. (again, probably after the kids are in bed)
depends on whether you're leveling a high-demand job (brd, cor, sam, etc.), though these are my mostly-successful times, too.
- I remember Dunes parties were first near the Highland Zone then at the beach. Now just walk your butt to D-6.
yeah, the highlands camp just kinda sucks, and it's historically been faster to just solo to 12 and go straight to D-6/D-7. Low level exp got a big nerf recently though, so the highlands camp/area might get more popular
- Bastok Mines is the hangout spot. Weird.
home nations are the hangouts since the OP NPC is right outside the mogs, and the auction houses are all linked.. it kinda takes away the need to spend time in jeuno outside bazaar muling/purchasing. Most folks have Tidal Talismans, too (got 3 myself, one on main/alt and mule), and can get to Jeuno whenever they need. You'll be able to earn a Tidal yourself once the event rolls around again (Christmas event, iirc)
- That one goblin in the Dangruff Wadi has a huge dick. funny but wtf lol.
lol
- Making the walk from your home town to Jeuno is still a goddamn terrible task.
yup, one of the few cherished accurate-to-era experiences, assuming you don't have an escort

- a lot of underpriced items at the AH, (invested 40gil and made a lowbie 40k NPC'ing things.)
yup, see the point above about people being 'lazy'.. most folks just gamble that people won't bother trying to lowball stuff too much and just want their AH listings to move
- Jeuno is home to a billion mules, you feel like Will Smith walking among lifeless mannequins.
lower jeuno is the only city zone where there's no bazaar mule tax, so most people leave theirs there. However, Valkurm Dunes OP is quickly becoming more and more popular since it's easier to get there in a pinch
- Moogles everywhere, they dont talk. Probably staging an attack.
yeah, there's a whole horde of NPCs that are 'out of era' but were included in the original Darkstar Project code that Nas forked from a few years back.. it's much easier to just make them 'non-interactive' than to actually remove them from the game, so he just made them all do nothing
- Christmas trees and letter eggs!!
the trees stay up year-round, cuz.. reasons? The letter eggs will probably be removed eventually
- Mobs don't chase you as far as before. They reset after a few minutes.
this depends on whether the mobs track scent and/or whether they naturally aggro. Mobs that *don't* normally aggro will generally drop aggro after spending about 60 seconds unable to commit an action against you (if you've run far enough away, they're separated by terrain, etc.). Mobs that track by scent will drop aggro if you drop scent by running through water, snow, or getting deodorize cast on you. If a normally-aggressive mob can't get to you due to terrain, it'll generally drop aggro after about a minute as well (I'm not 100% sure of the rule on this one, it seems somewhat intermittent). Worms, notably, will *always* be unable to get to you "due to terrain", so they constantly drop aggro if you're not standing within melee range.
- Teleport to other home points! Empress bands! SIKE!
Yep, home point teleports are disabled and likely will never be enabled. Empress bands are only turned on during specific 'events' (i.e.: whenever Nas feels like it). Occasionally they stay on for a while, like when all the COVID-19 madness started.
There are other #JustNasomiThings, but for the most part it's pretty true-to-era plus-dualboxing
