I started playing this game in January of 2005, and it helped pull me out of a hard drug addiction, which has yet to resurface. I've quit, jumped servers god-knows-how-many-times, lost one wife and at least one job, moved to another country and back again in the 15 years I've been playing. It's been quite a ride, and Vanadiel has been there all the way. She really has been the companion, the steel, that has never betrayed me. She's an addiction of course, in the way that a road is the addiction of the traveller. One last time, I thank Square-Enix for making her, and Nasomi for holding her up.

So, as you transformed from young to old, how has your life changed, and what have you gleaned from your life in Vanadiel?

So in other words, you traded one addiction for another. Under these circumstances, I'd say its a good trade off.

I was 29 when I started (45 now). It hasn't helped me through anything heavy like it helped you Xoo, but it has definitely helped me through some depression from time to time. It's also sometimes caused some depression haha.

I was 4 years old when FFXI became a part of my life. Now I'm 21, very close to 22; still the best MMO I've ever played.
