So I'm about 400 carp from completing my Lu Shangs and I was wondering if anyone had heard any news about the fishing cap being lifted. I asked Nas a few months after fishing was fixed but didn't get any solid info. Just trying to find out if there is any info on the purpose of the cap in the first place or if Nas as given out any other information on his plans for fishing coming up.

Honestly I had a much easier time getting to 50 fishing here than i did in retail. I may have been targeting skill ups better than i did back then though. Now that fishing has been fixed for over a year I would hope that he would be ready to raise it at least 10-20 levels so that we could start catching fish for the higher level sushi. Right now the only people who can catch them are the ones who had fishing high level before it broke 2+ years ago.

What kind of gil are people making at fishing cap now? I'm interested in fishing, but having a hard time seeing it being very profitable compared to simply farming. How many stacks of fish are you reeling in per hour? Do you mostly look for vendor fish or AH fish or are most fishers crafting with it themselves? Appreciate any insights people are willing to let slip.

The best thing you could npc fish at 50 is shall shells, and expect about 15-20k/hr.

Basically, its not worth it.

Are you saying there are people with over 50 fishing? And they have not been rolled back?

Nas confirmed on IRC that there are no people above 50 and I think only a few dozen at 50.

I've been informed by veterans that some people still have over 50 that had it before changes were made. Frankly as a server we want more high level sushi around so it would be nice to raise the cap.

That's not possible Rulkar. I was here when fishing was first introduced on Nasomi; the cap was first level 10, then a few weeks after it got raised up. The cap was never above 50, so no one could possibly have fishing level beyond that.

Are you able to fish Bastore Bream, Black Sole, etc high level fish with the current level cap? If no, is there alternative ways to get those fish? I know for a fact that Bastore Bream is used in a recipe to get past level 80 Cooking.

My understanding was fishing was around before the beta where 10 was set at the cap and you could level all the way to 100 during that time period. In game Gweivyth told me he knew a guy with Lu Shangs and 50+ skill, but I might have just misunderstood him.
