You truly screwed black mage so hard with this update. This is pretty depressing. I now have weaker enfeebles than before I was fully merited with full enfeeb gear set. My resist rate is now through the roof. I solo'd Ullikumi before even having many merits and went for a little testing and cant even land a bind on Zipacna.

I understand this is a free, private server and complaining to its owner will serve no real purpose but I would just like to point out that the server's conditions are something that players get used to and work around. We've specifically sent people in our shell out to level this job that they don't necessarily like but which was made a key part of the strategy here on this server for a significant portion of the content. To just change those conditions so drastically is very upsetting. And I have now spent months meriting, gearing, crafting, to make my beloved blm better just to have the rug swept out from under me and I now have a fully merited, and fully nerfed job. I know, I know. I bitch and complain about this server and I still log on everyday. And I still will. But I'm feeling quite dejected. Split the difference or something man.. A fully merited fully geared blm should be able to land a bind on small potatoes like zipacna.

If something feels so strong that you need to go level it and do all that then it's pretty likely that it isn't working like it should and you can expect this sort of thing to happen eventually.

If it's been nerfed way below what it should be, then it's time to start hell. But I think you'd need more time to determine if that's the case.

It hasn't even really been nerfed, it is more like it was fixed. Mage gear that gave + magic skill was giving double what it was supposed to, propelling mages to skill levels beyond what is possible at 75 cap and allowing BLM in particular to flourish. As a BLM main myself for over a year and a half, I can't say I am thrilled that I am suddenly a mere mortal in situations where I was previously nigh invincible, but I understand the intent and necessity of the patch. BLM really should not be able to solo Dynamis, Limbus, ZNM or any of the other myriad endgame content that it has been able up until this patch.

Does it suck for those of us who have gotten used to BLM being OP and invested so heavily in it? Absolutely, but the server and it's future are bigger than any of us and we will simply have to adapt as Viktoriya so aptly pointed out.

It's a fix not a nerf but I do believe that it needs to be further tweaked. Resists on certain things seem a tad higher than they should be.

The current core of endgame players joined this server during it's pre-nerf phase. We were around when bind would land on everything and never break even after multiple nukes. We were around when Fafnir, Nidhogg and Tiamat were annihilated by a group of BLMS RDMS and BRDS. No tank needed!

I've soloed so many mobs on this server as BLM that I had to lvl RDM to 75 on retail to even think about trying. So it doesn't come as a surprise that people are blindsided about how extreme of an effect these changes have to the FFXI ecosphere.

We got used to Nasomi being it's own unique server with it's kinks exclusive to it alone (chat staff, nasboat RIP, Choco Circuit RIP) but it's clear where the owner is going with it and I don't think he'll be changing his course.

That being said, if Nas is going to nerf BLM and magic accuracy as a whole, he should really consider bringing TOAU back to it's original levels as it's now become an uninhabitable hellhole unless you're a hecking BST.

On a side note, it feels as if monster magic accuracy has been lowered as a whole, too. Last night, I was trioing and we had several partial and full resists to mob TP moves that we had otherwise never resisted a single time before.

Might as well chime in here, I've solo'd fenrir for plenty of people during my time playing here. I am completely merited skill/int TARU with the best gear sans aureole and 5int ring/enfeeb skill cape (for a difference of +3 int -5 skill, a 3.5 macc difference) I did it again yesterday and it was...rough. I probably had 70% macc on enfeebles on him. I don't think he's exceptionally high level either, it seems kind of overtuned for having full merits and hq gear.

Just throwing an idea out here, perhaps this was done intentionally to encourage other group setups instead of "throw BLMs at it until it's dead". This is, after all, Nasomi we are talking about here.

Like it or not, cop was blm era. You shouldn't need an 11 roll macc cor and double etude brd to nuke stuff with perfect gear and merits.

I'm not arguing what is or isn't era. I'm just saying that Nasomi does what Nasomi wants. You need only look to his past changes to see he doesn't care whether something was done in retail or not. If it doesn't fit the scope of his vision, he will change it.
