Hey guys! With the influx of new players and having seen the question asked often enough, I figured we could get a Lv1-15 friendly guide on how to make gil. If you've a contribution, comment or critique for the LLGG let me know and I'll edit it appropriately. Maybe it'll eventually make its way to the Wiki?

It is a WIP, so I'll make more additions/edits as time goes on, with or without comment. For instance, I need to take a good look at one-time and repeatable quests, and need to verify if Ron/Gusta sheep drop their skins.

==GENERAL ADVICE==

SIGNET - Get it and keep it up.
- Signet has a variety of benefits, but we want it here for the CRYSTALS and CONQUEST POINTS. Crystals are used in crafting while conquest points can net you some decent gear or quick gil, depending on your needs. There is no reason to not have signet on, ever; make a habit of refreshing the effect whenever you get the chance.

CRYSTALS - Learn/remember which crystal mob families drop.
- Crystals drop off of experience-yielding enemies while under Signet. Dark, light, lightning, and fire crystals are big money-makers (honorable mention to wind), though you'll run into fire the most frequently at a lower level (Orcs, Goblins, pink Birds). Always weigh in the benefit of getting fire crystals while leveling/farming.

CRAFTING - Get familiar even if you don't plan on partaking.
- Knowledge of core crafting materials can lead you to decent gil, whether you craft are not. Knowing what people what is a key part of making gil in this game, and if you familiarize yourself with the first 10-20 levels of each craft, you may find a way to make gil.

CHECK THE NPC *AND* THE AUCTION HOUSE - You may save or even make gil.
- You never know what an NPC will buy or sell something for. Search a Wiki or check for yourself, as there's both gil to be made and saved. You'd be surprised how cheap you can get a new pair of scale cuisses, or how much someone would pay on the AH for a generic crafting material from an NPC.

FISHING IS HOT, HELM IS NOT - Right now, early level fishing's better when compared to Harvesting, Excavating, Logging, or Mining
- Having made 300k at level 7, mining in Zeruhn Mines was my go-to advice for a low-level player. An hour's work could next you a decent amount of gil from Darksteel and other basic ores, but the mechanics of mining have been recently changed. Now fishing has taken the spotlight as the entry level non-craft, non-farming method of making gil, and boy, can it pay off quick. I recommend targeting Moats Carps (Knightswell), Nebimonite (Selbina/Mharua Ship), or something you can NPC for reasonable gil. Fishing itself is easy, but making sure you've the right rod/bait is important to avoid rod breaks and lost lures.

==FARMING TARGETS==

BAT WINGS - Drops from all bats, all regions.

- Drop Rate: Generous
- Primarily used in the San d'Oria based quest Fear of the Dark , which rewards San d'Oria fame. The quest rewards 200g for every two you turn in. Depending ont he acution house prices, you could profit from selling them or level your fame for damn-near free. If you're targeting bat wings exclusively, head out to Zeruhn Mines; you can level a job from 1 to 10 there and net a massive amount of bat wings and wind crystals in the process.

BEEHIVE CHIPS - Drops from Maneating Hornet (Lv5+ Gustaberg), Giant Bee (Lv5+ Sarutabaruta), and Digger Wasp (Lv8+ Giddeus)
- Drop Rate: Generous
- Pretty common drop and sells quick enough. Primarily used to create Beeswax, which is a staple crafting item. You can farm these alongside Yagudo Necklaces if you're trying to make gil or boost your Tenshodo fame. Farming these will also net you wind crystals and Honey, which is only a small bonus

GOBLIN MASK - Drops from all "light armored" goblins.
- Drop Rate: Poor
- Primarily used in desynthisis to get Glass Fiber or Sheep Leather, these masks will AH for 200-400g a piece at a decent pace. If you've the wind crystals to burn, and depending on the AH prices, it may be worth turning these into sheep leather. Farming these will also net you some fire crystals and some Wild Onions.

LAND CRAB MEAT- Drops from most crabs, most regions. (Crabs are found near water, typically)
- Drop Rate: Poor to Moderate
- These sell to NPCs for 271~287 gil, and will sell for as much or less on the AH. It's a valid strategy to snatch these up when you see them selling low on the AH and flip them to a vendor. They're occasionally used for Boiled Crab or Crab Sushi, but that doesn't seem to cause much of a demand for them. Information on which crabs actually drop this is inconsistent on the Wikis, but they are an item that can net you decent gil. The best place to farm these would be in Dangruf Wadi.

SILK THREAD - Drops from Crawlers (Sarutabaruta), and all/most crawlers in the game.
- Drop Rate: Moderate
- A farming staple, three of these will net you 600g in the Windurst-based quest Creepy Crawlies, though stacks of these should AH for more. Crawlers will also drop Crawler Calculuses, which net you the same amount of gil from the aforementioned quest. I don't have first-hand experience farming threads on Nasomi, but I'd say these are a contender for "the thing" to farm early on.

TREANT BULB - Drops from Walking Saplings (Lv4+ Gustaberg) and all/most Saplings.
-Drop Rate: Moderate to Generous
- Used primarily in Vitriol and some gil saving, high-level alchemy synths. These can bet you 1-3k a stack and sells at a decent pace, as one Vitriol requires two per synth. One person leveling their alchemy on Vitriol can buy out the the AH. Saplings will occasionally drop various seeds in addition to their bulbs. While useless on Nasomi, they do NPC for decent amount (70~g).

YAGUDO NECKLACES - Drops from all early level Yagudo (Lv4 Sarutabaruta, Lv8+ Giddeus)
- Drop Rate: Generous
- Used almost exclusively for the Windurst-based quest Mihgo's Amigo, which rewards Tenshodo fame. You get 200g for every *four* you turn it, but you can list them for more on the AH. It takes 212 of these to reach the minimum fame requirements for the Utsusemi: Ichi quest, The Sahagin's Stash. Consider turning them into the quest if you want to eventually level ninja. Farming these will also net you wind crystals.

ZINC ORE - Drops from Stone Eaters (Lv5+ Gustaberg, Dangruf Wadi) and maybe from Tunnel Worms (Zeruhn Mines)
- Drop Rate: Poor
- Primarily used for Brass Ingots and the Bastok-based Beauty and Galka quest, which rewards Tenshodo fame (and unlocks the repeatable quest, Shady Business). The quest gives you 350g for ever four ores, but you may get more gil from selling them on the AH. The drop rate on the ore isn't too great but it's still something to keep an eye out for.

also,go to the east Ronfaure and fight goblins
concentrate on getting "goblin masks",but every so often they will drop "Square of wool cloth" which can be sold for around 1800 when selling to npc-s
if you collect stack of 12 goblin masks put them on the AH,you can easily make 5k gil early on using this method
as far as i know only Goblin Weaver drops Square of wool cloth

A good way to make some easy gil while you get XP and using your CP(Conquest point) as stated above.

The Sandoria "Royal Footmans Tunic" costs 1000 CP and sells for 7000-9000 gil and sells pretty quickly daily.

*make sure you have your signet on for this*

More general advice: check the vendors before blowing that money you made selling beehive chips on your next spell. Many of the low level spells are cheaper at the vendor. People often buy them at the vendor and then list for more on the AH. You don't get rich doing that, but it's some chocobo money...

Otherwise, great start. All tactics i used getting started and an still using as a lowbie. Just came back from a hiatus and an excited to have fishing to try out. I had quit playing retail by the time this fancy fishing had come out. :)
