I am going to take one/two jobs to 75 that I personally like but I heard on Nasomi that they are just not wanted endgame at all (Thf and Rng). What are jobs needed at endgame so I can join in as well when time comes? I don't mind leveling BLM but I did that before and wouldn't mind trying something else for the hell of it. (Not whm though, I get bored playing whm)

If you don't enjoy BLM, you can still do something like COR (similar to RNG while leveling, you might like it), BRD (not quite WHM, easy to play! and works a bit like COR), RDM (not BLM, not WHM, you know) or SMN.

I listed very useful ones that people generally always want in their endgame LSes. Everyone plays the jobs you want to play. That's the problem.

Thanks for all the info you guys. I'm am just curious as to why things seem different on this part than retail. I remember RNG, SAM, and a good Thf being very sought after and now it seems...... LOL

Those jobs are hella fun in an exp party but when you get to big fights, TP feed is always going to be a major issue. Thf's are always good to have around but you're going to find yourself standing around until the end of the fight where you get to tag it and then continue to stand there. At best youll get to do some shark bites to either close or open a light. That's mostly what a sam would do as well. Merit shikikoyo and you have a small use. Having a drg with angon meritied is always a plus as well but it's going to be the same story. You're gonna stand there and wait to use your one ability and then you'll be done for a while. You'll likely be thrown into the party just to do that and then taken back out.

Unfortunately any fights that are worthwhile and challenging on this server have very high physical defense and the hits your putting out are only going to serve to help the mob spam tp moves. In retail, the heavy DD jobs like sam, rng or war could do some great damage to a fafhogg or a kirin but the defense of those mobs is extremely boosted here to absurd levels and will depress the hell out of you. Thank deadwing for that nonsense. If you wanna bring the damage to endgame, I recommend Blm and/or smn. Half the jobs here are really just for fun and exp parties.

Others have already made good points above. If I could give you some advice, it would be to start off with a support or magic damage job when first getting into endgame. When I started, I did COR and BLM as my first 75 jobs. I was able to contribute to every aspect of endgame, in one form or another. Over time, I leveled my other DD jobs and started to accumulate gear for them, while continuing to play the jobs that my linkshell needed to succeed. No endgame linkshell is going to take a player with 75 SAM or RNG or THF only, regardless of gear or merits. Once you get your foot in the door and start accumulating gear, you can start bringing these other jobs to events like Dynamis, Limbus, merits, or Sky/Sea farming.

When you first join a linkshell, others are going to have those same DD jobs with better gear and more experience in the linkshell than you. Why would we have a new member come on a lesser geared DD when one of the veterans with better gear and more seniority can fill that role? Put in your time, support your team, and eventually you can start gearing up those other jobs you might consider more fun.

It's a shame that this server/era is pretty much "Blm, Smn or go home", with DRK chiming in on some stuff, if you want to dd.

That’s how retail was for HNMs lol. No need to have faffhogg spam wing for little damage hits.

As others say though, in order to get in an endgame shell at least have 1 of these jobs leveled. BLM RDM WHM BRD COR
