So, I got a few questions for all of you veterans that post on here sometimes. What is End Game on Nasomi actually like? Is it competitive at all or is there that one LS that has everyone from the 1st generation of folks who started playing on the server in its infancy? I believe I have seen it called Top Shelf? What is the level of elitism in end game? Equipment and preparation aside, is it toxic at all? I mean, no offense to anyone in that TS LS but just the recruitment post alone for them was a bit pretentious for my taste. I am sure they have done some incredible things and are a great bunch of people but, man....

I am curious in the scene because I am at a point in the game where I have built a foundation of subjobs and main jobs and have made some good progress in leveling them to the tipping point where I will soon be making a pretty strong push to end game. I typically level with my static a couple times a week and albeit we do go slow, I am just curious at the competitiveness and state of end game. In retail, I honestly didn't really do much in end game except a couple sky runs. With that being said, I am excited to actually get to experience it here.

Can any of you guys talk about the general state of end game? I currently intend to have COR, NIN and RNG leveled for end game stuff. I think and hope those are all viable on Nasomi. Hope to hear some good insight.

Thanks

50% sure this Topic is bait but...

Yea... TopShelf are a pretty toxic... they are not very constructive on the forums, always taking shit about people and other LS's.. never help anyone.. shit... they even let me join TopShelf and I don't even have Sky access yet... what a bunch of Elietest douche bags!

The truth is what you chose to believe.... as Abe Lincoln once said "Don't trust anything you hear on the Nasomi forums"...

On Topic doe... Endgame is ok. The Auto-claim is.. odd but all in all its Retail competitive, if anything its less Toxic they my Retail experiences.

Like retail don't expect to go far in Endgame as a one trick (Unless you are a BRD/COR/BLM/SMN), so if you rock up as a 75WAR onry ya not gonna have a great start.

I have a feeling this thread might spiral out of control and get deleted, but before it does I'll give you my honest input on the various categories you mentioned to hopefully give you an understanding of what you can expect.

Toxicity:
I wouldn't say it's as toxic as retail, but there are definitely bad blood among the competing LS' core members. I usually stay out of it so long as it's kept between member to member friction among the competing shells. It's usually only if someone tries to paint a WHOLE linkshell in bad light with no justification that I take exception. If you do join a shell, any shell, I recommend you don't allow yourself to get caught up in bias propaganda you'll likely be exposed to about other shells, there's good and bad people in all LS.

Competitiveness:
I estimate there is about 5 EG shells, with a few more startups. Most endgame shell have their event schedules, and despite the level of toxicity they may have towards each other, they all work around not interrupting each other's schedule runs (hence why it's not as toxic as retail). On King camps, there's usually at least 2-3 main LS that camps them regularly, though I've seen as much as 5 different shells camping at once before.

LS Tiers:
Among the endgame shells, they are at different Tiers in terms of capabilities and what they can tackle. I'd say the 3 top shells (listed in alphabetical order: Atma, Topshelf, Yes) are pretty close to each other as they can complete all the same content with varying degree of difficulty. They all have different drive and focus, and I'd recommend talking to non-sackholder members in those shells to get an idea what their community environment is like to determine which one you might want to join. With that being said, these 3 shells are more difficult to join as you either need to have reference, or apply when they open up their recruitment, but it never hurt to ask. The most important part is finding people you can connect and enjoy playing with, that's what will make end game fun, regardless of content or gear.

Elitism in recruitment:
For the most part, I would say none of the top LS are elitist in terms of gear requirement. I think they all prioritize attitude and loyalty when looking for members. However, it is usually in your best interest to get access to sea and sky as that goes a long way in boosting your chance of getting accepted. The jobs that are usually in demands are Cor, Brd, Blm, Smn, Rdm, Pld. Other classes have their use as well on various content, just not as high a demand.

List of some EG or Event based-EG shells that come to mind (alphabetical order):

Atma
DraconicBallad
Nova
Prose
Topshelf
Yes

There are probably smaller ones out there that I'm just not familiar with yet. Hope this help.

No, the other side of the 50%. Not bait. I honestly don't know anyone in any of those linkshells, I just formed an opinion based on the general tone of a recruitment thread I read over in the other forum in the first post. I honestly haven't heard any type of rumors either good or bad. Like I said, I am sure they are all great people and a good LS. I was just asking because I am getting older now and just want to avoid drama in any form in any shell and enjoy the game for what it is.

Edly, thanks for the great run down!

I think baldr was feelin a little nice on the sauce one night and was having some fun when he edited that post lol. You don’t really have to have a ghorn or an aegis but if you do or are working on them, it’s more likely we might want you because if you’re taking the time to make them, you are likely a team player. We still take in peoples friends and random friends we make even occasionally. We just like cool people. We are a fam. And we have fun. Things get a little heated sometimes because we want things for our people just like every other group does and competition is heavy.

If there isn't toxicity in my FFXI I do not want to play it. Real era experience or NOTHING AT ALL.

I am fairly new to the server, about 4 months. Only thing i wanted to add was when I was first starting I posted on this forum and asked for a little help. It was replied to and was told to message the person in game. I did and guess what, got the help. Not only that, but he has helped me many times since then. Again, very noob at the time and he has given help along with great information on what to do/not to do in the game.

He was from Topshelf. Just wanted to put that out there. I guess there are many opinions on many groups, but just keep in mind they are opinions.

Overall this server in my opinion is way better than any I ever played on retail.
