Sounds good except you missed the part where there is no synth in that range, you know towards then end.

Each synth that was tested was 5 away. The reason i used two different synths was because some are naturally worse then others. A good example of this would be pineapple juice for cooking. I did both Dance Shoes and Tarutaru Sash and got same results. It will get fixed at some point or i'll get banned for posting a bug report everyday.

I'm curious to know what kind of material loss rates you all are getting. Today I did 245 synths while skilling up, ranging 3-5 levels away from cap, amounting to 130 successes and 115 failures.

Total materials used: 1688
Total materials lost: 504
Overall material loss rate: 29.9%

When adjusting the loss rate to account for breaks only, it seemed pretty consistent across the board that on a break each individual material had about a 65% chance of vaporizing.

30% sounds about right for total losses for what I've been seeing. I've been doing a lot of low-level (<20) crafting at 3-5 levels away from cap as well lately, and although I haven't been keeping detailed records, as a rule of thumb I'd expect to lose around a quarter of what I put into it.

That said, I don't think the lost materials are independent of each other. I mostly see either breaks with 0 losses besides the crystal, or breaks with 50%+ of the items lost. 65% losses per break on average sounds plausible to me, but I doubt it's literally "for each material roll 1-100, on a 65 or less you lose the item". It's probably tiered like resists or anything else, where on a break you roll on a table and then can salvage 0%/50%/100% randomly chosen materials or something like that.

just did 5 stacks of synth/desynth of muscle belts at 82+2+3 (5 from cap) and got .5 from it (~90ish synths)

absolutely ridiculous

I don't know what to do anymore, I've moved 5 levels in smithing in a month(48-53). I've dumped about a mil of farmed mats into it. I have gotten a single .1 skillup from a fail at 5 levels away. I can't mine in yughott grotto for mass amounts of iron, I'm not high enough for my retail source, and other sources aren't available. I have 10 stacks of iron ingots, 3 of steel and nearly 2 of darksteel, but I just cant bring myself to use them because everytime I cut into them its a complete waste of time, money and effort and I just ragequit.

The rate of failure and crit fail at 4/5 levels away is closer to what 7/8 levels was in retail, 2 is what 4 was. The fail skillup rate is almost nonexistant, its almost as if the success rate of lightning xtals in retail is the number used for the fail skillup rate and I dont even know why I'm wasting my time typing this here. Welp, that was another 40 synths with one skillup and a crazy loss rate at 5 levels away, my second ever fail skillup within 5 levels since the change. /wrists

Some guy in Koopa’s twitch stream swore to me that T2 rates are 25% and that nothing about the rates here are off from retail, and all I could think of was this forum thread of everyone swearing off crafting in mass.

Its beyond horrible for skill up rates. Shouldn't be this bad at all because it sure as heck wasn't in retail. 600 synths one day and got maybe 3 lvls lol.
