XiView is perfectly fine, as it just changes fonts and icons on the UI.

Only dat modifications that can give you an advantage over others are not.

Thanks for this post! I really need to get that XIView installed tonight. I'd kill for some better icons to differentiate some things that are far too similar right now. I also didn't know about the draw distance stuff, I'll have to give that a go. I've tried using /fps 1 but it feels like a totally different game so i've always gone back to my 30 cap, lol.

Does anyone use the HD zone overhauls from the youtube videos? I've been tempted by that but have been too lazy and too concerned about messing up my install and having to start over (mostly dont want to lose my macros. I need to get around to backing those up). I'd love some feedback on these in actual use.

I am not computer savvy. Will all these upgrades slow down game performance?

As right now if I run on /fps1 I will get 50+fps but everything is so choppy. I have to make sure I stay under 30fps. I am afraid if I do all this then the game will be unplayable? My laptop isnt the newest. Its not extremely old either. Dell Inspiron 15 i5, 1tb, 8gb...Intel HD graphics.

Cherri, they could. You should go down the list one by one and go to a populated area to see what it feels like, or if you notice a difference in visuals.

I appreciate it! I don't mind what it looks like now but it could definitely be improved. I will start with the smallest impacts first. I really like the XIView as well, so I am going to see if I can figure out how to use that lol

I actually have a few DLL's that could help you with that it sounds like your using a dedicated card but its putting the gfx for ff through the onboard one. Had this issue myself and i know a fair few people do too..maybe i should write up a post too :/

Anyhow im away until Sunday but once back message me in game and ill sort you out with them and a guide on installing them. I went from 15FPS to 60FPS.

There is already info on the troubleshooting page on the wiki for people on laptops with 2 cards.

I'm pretty sure this only has one graphic's card - Intel HD Graphics 5500.

Quick question, are you able to add /fps 1 into the default.txt? It doesn't seem to actually change the setting for me. I still have to manually type it in everytime the game laods.
