Hi guys i have a question.

How much time can a player hold mobs and not kill them?

i went as lv38 to kill tigers and there was a lv75 thief that got mad because i made some competition, he pretty much clarmed every tiger and went to another place in carpenters.

i dont mind this , but there has to be a limit to it.

or can he hold them forever?

its been pretty much 30 minutes already

Although I don't think it's explicitly stated in the rules, it's kind of a dick move on his part and not really in the spirit of the rules. HNMs can be held for 4 hrs to adjust their spawn time but regular mobs must be claimed with intent to kill them(if others are around) as far as I know.

Sending tells and asking if someone else is farming is generally a good practice, but one that you won't always be able to follow.

If hes holding them and not killing them, its a nono. But if hes actually killing them, then its okay. Like you said, its a jerk move, but its allowed

well he did hold them for almost 30 min. i have screenshots, he even parade them around carpenters. and did not kill them.

We did say each other some things, not that nasty, but we did.

his arguments was that i should have asked first.

my argument was that its not his camp and that is open for everyone.

so he took all mobs like i mentioned and didn't kill them.

i asked because imho, ffxi camps are open for everyone.

what made it funny is that at my lv i was making xp, and he was lv75.

Nah, this isn't cool. Competition is what makes XI, XI. His doesn't need to be banned or anything but a warning would suffice.

There used to be a lot more common courtesy on this server. If you showed up and someone was camping an NM or farming a specific area, you'd leave and let them do their thing because they were there first. Obviously there were a few exceptions for HNMs and heavily camped stuff.

Now that the population has jumped up recently, that common courtesy has changed to "heck you, I'll camp on top of you" and I think some people (I assume older accounts who haven't played much recently) get caught off guard the first time this happens and do weird shit like hold mobs for an hour.

by the way... that second strategy is the correct one. You could be more polite, but in general, there's no reason to not do something just because someone else decided to also do it.

You don't have to be a monster about it, but when there's 1000 people online at this point? I don't even look at a zone before I go there usually.
