So this afternoon I got together a group with a lvl 50 sync and we were going to head to KRT. I did a check of the area and the party down there was 54 when exp starts to get bad so figured they would be gone shortly. I do a shout for a tank and versace immediately responds that there is a party down there and how can I presume to know their level. I respond that I used the /sea command and they are lvl 54. I send the party leader a tell asking if they are wrapping it up and am told that they have enough syncs down there in line to get from 50 to 75. Sure enough, they had 5 anon characters down there and every hour or so I would check and they would have a new sync. I'm assuming they are versace's since he got all up in arms when I did a shout in Moghouse for a members. Is there any sort of ettiquette that is followed on this server with respect to the more popular exp camps?

edit for spelling

I would assume they are not all his, you can only have 2 chars logged into at the same time.

This is a 'grey' area, and they do have it claimed, it's just a bit dirty on their part IMO.

This is one of the reasons Nas added the 20 sync cap
You can either talk to them and hope for resolve or report it to Nas if it effects you that much.

It's not worth reporting. I just found it incredibly rude.

Foreword: none of this is meant to be nasty or critical. I hope it is helpful. :)

I use the site below to find alternate camps. I have found it is not uncommon for a static party to stay at one camp for as long as possible. (My LS Party held Pug Alley for about 7 hours and we kept having people ask when we are leaving. It drove our leader nuts.)

You can nit pick having five alts standing by, but that would not be much different than having members run to get other jobs. Most people would consider it rude to move into a camp even if a PT is not pulling at that moment. Thus, the end result is the same... first come first serve.

If a camp is occupied, and I want to make a pt at that level, I usually with tell the leader. IF they are on for a long time, then I will find a different camp that is available.

This is a lot like the leech farming site in Bubu. People always show up and camp on top of the person who was there first, which totally busts the Gil per hour of BOTH people. There are like 50 places to make money, but everyone knows that one so they take no time to search and see if it is open. On a server with such a limited population, I never find every possible farming site occupied. I would guess the same is true of Party Camps at most levels.

Take your time and do some good searching. Then, go to the camp, and start forming your party. It is reasonable to claim a camp while building.

It has not been updated in a long time, which is actually a good thing for NasServer.

Just because you see a level 54-55, doesn't necessarily mean they are close to leaving. And while it's not ideal for either party, KRT can actually has 2 places to camp for a 50-55 party. It's up to you if you want competition pulling though. From my experience leveling there, it's safe to assume most decent parties in KRT will go through more than one sync while down there. I think the only etiquette here would be not camping on top of another party.

I feel exp camps are first come first serve, and when vacated physically by the entire party are open. I feel farming for gil and camping NM's are not first come first serve. I always felt competition for these was healthy, that doesn't mean I won't look for something else to farm if it didn't seem worth it. Some camps have enough mobs to farm with a couple people.

NM's IMO is a Free For All, and I welcome anyone to try and outclaim me if I am camping one. You will not hear any complaints from me.

I miss competitive merit parties. I'm working on bard, and part of my skills was properly staging mobs, and out pulling other bards. I remember retail when there would be 3-4 parties in these only 1 party fits camps. Back then you needed a skilled puller to keep your exp/hour high, and some luck. This encouraged me to learn to pull/sleep, and maintain claim, so mobs didn't get stolen. This wasn't limited to merit parties. I remember claim battles from Valkrum Dunes to Bhaflau Thickets.

I think we (myself included) have become spoiled on our exp camps. It is our responsibility to find, and hold a camp. If others show up, and try to take it, then the camp needs to be defended. This will make everyone a better party member, as if you're slacking, then someone may come swipe the camp from you. All you need to do is make claiming mobs, and exp output such a pain in the butt for the party that they move on. It sucks when your the party on the short end, but that is life. Survival of the fittest.

Camping NMs has always been competitive. I don't think anyone expects to have first come first serve privileges on those. (Though teaming up is usually an excellent option imho)

I don't even think people EXPECT fc/fs on Gil Farm Camps. However, that does not change the foolishness of not doing your homework to maximize the value of your time. That is what I was getting at on my point about the leech camp, lol. Seriously, there are THREE places you can make just as much gil per hour IN BUBU. I do admit that the inventory space required for the other two options is a bit larger. Meaning you get more items of less value in the same period of time. The gil per hour is still from npcing items and parking a mule at the op if that mule's city controls the OP solves this issue completely.

I actually prefer the other options most of the time just to avoid someone trying to out farm me. (Honestly, I like to AOE farm on blm and that is next to impossible if people are pulling your links off you.) I am advocating for not only being considerate of your fellow players (you'll likely need their good will one day), but also for the self interested reason of maximizing your efforts.

The issue is the same with EXP camps. Competing with another party, while another camp with similar exp per hour is wide open... is silly and a little willfully ignorant. Doesn't mean a player is a bad person, but it does say something about their skill set in game.

To sum up my only real point here: Doing your homework and using the search feature will not only prevent player v player conflicts, BUT it will maximize the effectiveness of your own time spent. If you enjoy competing, that's fine, but it could adversely affect your reputation on a tiny server if you often try to grab exp and gil camps from others.

I admit, I am by no means perfect. I have totally been guilty of this same foolish behavior. Its a little like getting caught up in "Winning" an ebay auction to the point you over pay just to outbid a competitor. My goal is to learn from my own mistakes and maximize my enjoyment of the game. I hope you share this goal since FFXI is a cooperative game more than a competitive game. :D

Like it was mentioned earlier, No one Likes that guy that /tell you.

But on the issue itself, If you got a party going and can't find any other sync, don't feel bad for going to that camp. This is a open server for everyone to play. you just have to keep in mind that your xp will probably suffer + might make enemies.

In this particular case though, the person already has tons of enemies, don't be afraid to be another one :P
