I've been playing FFXI since 2006-2007, and I have a huge question I can't seem to find the answer too.

Why are EXP rings disabled and only activated during a certain time? I always remember never leaving home without it, and always using it when i could since the grind to level was so long.

It seems to be intended by Nasomi for the EXP rings to be only for special event days, sorry! Wait for the next event, probably around Christmas.

I'm sorry, Nasomi allegedly reads the forums but will never answer to any post and will only make announcements.

We can only speculate that it is part of his vision for the server. Keep in mind that Nasomi does not put retail-fidelity above all else and will sometimes add stuff (OWNMs) or do stuff differently (XP rings) if he feels like it.

It's his amusement park, FFXI in 2005 with perks and bugs to be fixed and missing stuff to be added, eventually.

Meh.... xp is kinda sorta boosted full time anyway. Heck, you can solo chain ep/dc to the point you are getting like 108 per kill depending on how close they are to your level. Earning xp hasn't seemed ljke a problem (at least in the lower half of the levels).
