Dayum this sounds like fun!! I just returned so I don't have anything to use, wish I had my fully kited 75rdm/nin from retail!

It might be cool to do a low lvl version with less payout / buy-in... Also if the arena normalized gear and / or lvl then it would be more skill based.

I never did pvp in the old days, I think I left right as it came out. But in 1v1 a rdm with his 2hr seems pretty op... Then of course, without 2hr a bit less so, but still viable

The total scope of official rules for the challenge will be released after we all have had some time to sit with the PVP arena. So about 1-3 days.

After some thought, I've decided to list some rules that I think will make the fights more diverse and interesting.

- The winner will need 3 wins. So a maximum of 6 rounds.

- It will be a limited duel. If you win on X job, you must now choose a different job. The loser may choose to stay as the job they went or try a new strategy.

-Medicine usage is liberal, but no de-buff items will be allowed (bad breath hairpin or whatever) and no icarus wings. Every other medicine or food you can think of will be allowed including yagudo drinks, poison potions, and HP/MP restore items if you want. You will be allowed to restock after each round.

- TP Storing before the fight is not allowed. SAM or /SAM will be allowed to meditate at the ring of the 'bell'. Other pre buffs like shell haste etc are allowed.

-Relics are obviously allowed

-2hrs are allowed only once, even if the duration of the challenge extends past the cool down. Use them wisely.


More info to come when we find out how equip sets work in zone. I'm leaning towards no equip swap as it could cause each player to constantly lose target, but we'll see.

Out of curiosity, is ballista coming back, brenner, or something more custom?

If implemented like ballista dont need to worry about blinking the 5 second blinking penalty is brutal (stunned and bound for five-ish second after changing a visible piece of gear (thats what causes the blinking, can change belt earrings etc without blinking). In 1-1 can always just add targets names to macros.

Theres a lot to gear selection in ballista due to the rules regarding picking up petras, blink/swap penalty, and jobs youll face.

Having been to the ballista royale finals and winning server comp on Phoenix and Siren at different time I have to say everyone wants uncapped but 60 cap was way more fun. Back then gear didnt scale if it was 60 cap you needed 60 gear.

Hope we get a non half assed implementation.
