I'm excited lol, I do love writing! So I was gonna wait till it was finished but here's the introduction page, well a small portion of it! Again ignore typos and what not in anything I label draft, I leave a lot of stuff behind cause I usually made changes once I have the full draft put together.

INTRODUCTION
It all began with a stone, or so the legend says! From the ashes of evolution and located deep in the heart if the Bastille mines district. You can count on The Nasomi Standard to deliver fair and balanced news, editorials and more from all corners of Vana diel. Journalism at its best, raw and unfiltered! For the enlightened ones in the hub of technology to the housewife in Windhurst, youcan count on us to deliver!


I want to actually spent time on crafting the articles so they aren't what you would expect. I'm not a fan of half ass writing when it comes to something Im doing for others. Kind of looking at this as my gift to Nas for the hundreds of hours I've spent on here playing! As well as give something back to the community that is Nasomi. Been a lot of fun this last few years playing with you all and it's nice to see how the server has improved and blown up in population the way it has!

My phone's being a pain in the ass! if anyone feels like downloading this from the link and reposting it directly to the forum, that be sweet!

Also the articles haven't been written yet, I just narrowed down the better ideas as of now. Left a typo or two also but I'll fix it before I release the full PDF version.

I was too lazy to fix those hah, covers updated now. Changed the layout and fixed the stuff I left behind. That was really rough draft to kinda get an idea of the look. I changed it quite a bit, here is the new most likely final version, unless I missed anything lol.

Once I get it written I'll go through and fix anything I need to change, I'm actually thinking this is gonna turn out to be a somewhat time consuming project. I figure if I'm gonna do it I might as well put some time in so everyone can enjoy it, or at least get a few laughs.

I actually agree though, I suck at self editing! I get way to into the idea or script, whatever I happen to be working on and I do miss a lot of mistakes cause of it. Friend of mine is an English professor and he takes a look at my stuff for me on occasion hah. Usually doesn't matter much cause I mainly work on screenplays now and it seems proper format is most important there, thank god for final draft! Lol

Work is coming along on the project guys, few more days and ill be ready for a final edit and release!

Graphic design tip: red/blue text on a patterned background (that house on the right) looks rough and hard to read. Consider adding emboss or stroke to the text to make it stand out more.

Yeah I'm noticing that now, looks a touch cleaner inside gimp. I'll have to make a few minor changes. Initially my idea was much much less work lol. I was gonna do like maybe 5 pages just messing around but the ideas evolved a bit.

Basically what I'm trying to pull off is to eventually build more or less a companion story to the main story of the game. Using game lore, Nasomi specific stuff and real world events. The standard is basically the tool to deliver the story.

Its being written in the perspective of a small group of journalist that split off from another media outlet, the San d'orian tumes which was rocked by scandal involving rare ore smuggling and cover ups in norg.

So the Standard group leaves and sets up shop in Bastok to produce the Nasomi Standard.
