The Problem: Currently there is only one perceived method of reporting a player for breaking the rules and that is to complain in NasChat until you feel your issue is resolved. There is the alternate, less known, method that is to PM Nasomi in hope that it is handled before the issue either escalates or is no longer applicable. With so many player affecting behaviors that can cause newer players to quit the game after one terrible experience, these issues should have a clear solution instead of a muddled one. Even me, a player that has almost been here 4 months, would not be able to tell a player the official procedure in reporting a player. We all understand Nasomi is busy and we all understand for whatever reason he chooses to do this without volunteers but this issue is very important to a community, especially a growing one such as this.

The Solution: An official reporting platform that can be responded. While venting in NasChat may be therapeutic (it's not), often it feels very one-sided. More often than not it feels like you are yelling at a wall and hoping for it to respond. I recommend a section of the forum only viewable by Nasomi and the person creating the post. They are able to submit evidence and state their claim. This would aggregate the reports to one section without judgment (as often when report via NasChat it is VERY public) and allow Nasomi to reply to the thread. This wouldn't have to be a detailed response, noting more than "Under Investigation" or "Resolved".

Thank you all for your time and I am interested to hear your objections, suggestions, and responses.

Nasomi used a ticket system in the past, it didn't work out because people like to report things such as being out claimed on an NM by a dualboxer.

Basically you can't trust people to not report minor discrepancies or things they can fix on their own.

I don't believe Nas has interest in every player feeling like their complaints are heard and validated/invalidated.

I'd like him to empower some folks to help with these types of issues, but I'm assuming the fact that he hasn't isn't an accident and should tell you how he feels about this type of request. I can't imagine he begins using a method where someone feels like they are owed a response, and that their issue is "open" until he's acted upon it personally.

He doesn't respond to many reports for a reason.

The vast majority do not see that there is "one perceived method ... but that there is the alternate, less known, method that is to PM Nasomi ...". Almost nobody goes to me for reports first. I almost always tell the people that do to send it to Nasomi. I'm sorry that YOU were one of the very few that went to me first and that I ignored you because all you had done was send me a screenshot with trash talk between you and somebody else. Nas would have ignored that even harder than I did.

The official procedure for reporting anything is to PM nas. Unless it's not sensitive, then they can just post it right in naschat directly. You can read the naschat room title to see that. And yes, moderation issues are sensitive.

Provide information in your reports. Give a background as to what you saw, why it may have happened, who, when, etc. Don't make nas have to find that stuff out himself - instead, let him confirm it during his investigation. Otherwise, how does he know what to look for?

Nas tries to read every PM he gets every day. If you leave a screenshot with nothing else he might not even open it. You left me messages for half a week saying "hey", "you there", etc. Do not wait for a response from nasomi. You aren't having a conversation with him, you're leaving him some information to act on himself.

And no, if you will now suggest that the massive volume of reports simply needs a vetting process, nas isn't interested in having someone do that job either. Right now, the vetting process of whether a report is worthwhile, is if it provides information for nas to act on. If you leave a PM saying "hi", you don't have a real issue that needs to be taken care of, that's that. Nas used to respond to "Hi", but he was overwhelmed even back in the early days with hundreds of players, now there's over 10k unique logins a month...

You are describing a PM on NasChat...

Nas had a ticket system, but it was being misused/spammed faster than he could keep up, so he turned it off.

This is the problem with running a server 100% alone. A lot of things that are required once a community gets so large are out of reach for one person to do.

Look, I am glad Nas has a translator but you have said several times that you serve in no official capacity so when you say "Nas feels", "Nas believes", or "Nas thinks" it feels disingenuine. I would much prefer you to come in here and tell me what Nabutso thinks as that information is undeniable fact that you believe that. Unless Nasomi wants to let me know that all statement made from Nabutso should be held as his own, I no longer feel it a good idea for anyone to take what you say is his opinion as fact.

Edit: Also, yes, I left messages saying hey are you there because you are a PLAYER, nothing more. Decide, are you the same as me or do you have some weird sense that you are greater than me in some capacity? Your time is worth no more than mine and the fact that you feel otherwise is unsettling.

Nothing I said in that post was "nas feels, believes, or thinks". I said what he does, and what players should do.

Being a player doesn't mean I have to respond to useless messages. In fact, I'd say it gives me even more liberty to do so. I have no obligation to speak to people I have no reason to speak to, especially when they have a history of starting trouble.

My time is worth much more than yours, because the many people who come to me with serious issues that I -can- resolve are more important than those who come to me without an issue at all.

You start problems. I fix them. I don't want to talk to the people who started the problems I've already fixed.

Nasomi's said repeatedly he will not bring others in for reports. He's been burned in the past when working with others with this server and before and he doesn't want to make that mistake again.

I'd rather have a 1-man show than the time bomb that comes from too many cooks in the kitchen.
