Good morning. I'm trying to get some more information on the Nasomi Community as I'm interested in joining and any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) Are there any alterations to the original game or any small QoL improvements that translated from the SE servers? I didn't "see" any but I may have overlooked something.

2) I read about "exp rings" and being enabled at certain times. Are these the same as the emperor bands that I remember or is this some new entity?

3) Are all jobs unlocked the traditional ways? I read that this game is up to CoP with some ToAU elements, which the zones are required to unlock BLU or COR, for examples.

4) How is RNG ammo availability? I remember something years ago about less people means less ammo being generated, meaning crazy prices. Granted, this was all theorycrafting but it made me wonder how it really got affected.

5) Question 4 makes me think more. With how slowly gil was acquired in this game, does that offset the market?

1. Nasomi specifically avoids giving QoL stuff, since many of the things that made FFXI fun were taken away when SE added those. But, we do have things like fully linked AHs, and no bazaar tax in Lower Jeuno for example, so that you don't have to bazaar outside in Rolanberry. Most 'changes' are small things like that, ones that might have an impact on the game (AH linking means all prices at all AHs end up being the same, the markets aren't isolated) but are necessary since we aren't quite as large as the top retail servers of the day. Limited level sync is another one: you can sync 10 levels. So you can't hit 75 in the dunes, but you may be able to hit the upper 20s if you really hammer it in in the dunes.

2. The Emperor and Empress bands, yes. They are enabled only during EXP events. They're the same rings you remember, nas just uses them to give incentives for EXPing on certain days. For example, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc...

3. Yes, you need to do the quests to unlock the Advanced Jobs. That includes the quest for subjob, too. Nas is working on fully implementing ToAU and you can read more about the ToAU roadmap here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=7759

4. Very available. One of the changes to the AH was allowing for you to list 100 items, not 7 (though you can't see more than 7 in your Sales History ingame, you can see them on the website in your account page: https://na.nasomi.com/account/login.php), so players tend to make these in bulk for gil, and compete with each other.. and, well, you know how it goes.

5. There's lots of ways to make gil, but nas is also very strict on RMT where SE tended not to be. Some prices are higher, some lower, and it varies a lot depending on the trends people set. Some QoL adjustments have even been removed. The ToAU warp that takes you from Bastok/Windy/DhamelLand to White gate has been disabled - and sounds like it is permanent. You have to run to jeuno if you want to do so.

ToAU jobs currently do not have their Maat equivalent fights so you can't get Blu or Pup or Cor as your first 75. You must be at Maat on a different job Pup is also kinda disabled atm pending a rework. Cor has almost no AF at this time. Just gun and pants. More will *hopefully* be added in the future.

ToAU missions stop at 13 right now.
No assualt, nyzul, salvage (yet)

Lastly ammo is generally in common supply. All Auction Houses are linked and their is a webpage for the auction house available

Don't forget Mog case/satchel/sack work in towns. Great QoL improvement from 2007

I was excited to see it up to CoP with some limited ToAU function as I was hoping it was the jobs with up to CoP being relevant content but it's too bad that you can't Maat with Blu. That won't necessarily keep me from joining. I just wanted a snapshot of what I was getting into.

All the ToAU jobs will get their LB5s, it just hasn't been programmed yet.

This, to me, is a MASSIVE QoL improvement that takes nothing away from what makes FFXI great, unless you think running back to your MH when you forget something is some kind of mini game.
