Basically, if you have a gear swap at a bad time, the skillchain animation stops and it doesn't show the damage. The damage is obviously still applied, but it makes continuing skillchains with third or fourth WSs hard to do on the fly. I like when I see Detonation, I could thow in a compression WS and make gravitation after, but you often don't see skillchains due to gear swaps, so it's hard unless everything is planned
My WS macros are often
/equipset 1
/ws xxxxxx <t>
/wait 3
/equipset 2
But in xp pts sometimes I hit that macro and it seems like the WS goes off, then I blink and gear swap, then 3 seconds later, I gearswap again. It's inconsitent I'm assuming due to lag, so it's hard to test bt I'm not even sure I'm getting the gearswap bonuses for the WS when it does that, or if it's just visual.
At the very least, when the gearswap happens AFTER my WS, that's when it doesn't show skillchain damage.
Anyone find a good fix? Right now I have /equipset 1 out of the macros and I just have a separate /equipset 1 macro i hit before I WS to make sure I swap before the WS starts, but it's an extra button press and I'd rather it all be on one macro. Ty!
/equipset 1 <wait 1>
<- 1 second delay gives time for character to blink before WS goes off/ws "XXXXX" <t> <wait X>
<- I use 1 for this since it doesn't bug me if the animation clips. I know Tier II is %75 WS damage, Tier III is same as WS so I can spitball it & be content. /equipset 2
This is the usual pattern I use for weaponskills. The only time it fails to blink and viusually change to WS gear is when the character is animation locked by cure spam or an enemy cast, and there's no helping that. I'm fairly confident that when the WS goes off and the character blinks afterward, what happened is the 'animation' of the first blink changing into WS gear couldn't play because of animation lock. But the gear does change and the stats do apply, the blink after WS indicates the gear switched even if nothing happened visually. Besides, my main weapon skills are Spinning Slash and Guillotine. If the gear didn't swap over to my WS sets, which have very different stats than my TP sets, the damage would be wildly outside the range I expect and I don't really see that happening when the first animation gets clipped.
