 Post subject: My Suggested Fix to RNG

I believe that the blanket range distant patch is having some unintended consequences, mainly affecting THFs, CORs and may other jobs that use RAs. I propose: revert the range distant patch and only nerf RNG's melee capabilities only. This will basically be like meleeing with a 2H staff. Set all of RNG's melee weapon proficiencies such as Daggers and Axes to skill rank E or even flat out set it to skill 0. All melee will swing and miss, thus no TP will be gained. RNGs will be able to stand alongside other DDs again without pulling the mobs yalms away, therefore, fixing the melee TP issue WITHOUT impacting other players. Although I believe this suggestion would be better than the current situation for RNGs, I do believe this would adversely affect brand new RNGs leveling up their first few levels. Any worthwhile RNG would know that purposely meleeing for TP is purposely gimping themselves. Majority of the RNG will continue to spam the RA macro so this shouldn't change anything. Plus, RNGs can be able to solo again.

As someone who absolutely hates this change, I'm fine with this. It doesn't effect us in parties any longer and doesn't make us a class to avoid.

I mean I'd just say remove the ranged accuracy penalty, that never existed to begin with when SE did it.

I can understand not liking this change, but so many people couch their argument in things that nas would instantly see as incorrect from the first result of a google search. Acc was absolutely penalized via distance in 05. Argue that it's too severe if you want but it will just make your argument look bad if it's blatantly and easily debunked...

If he doesn't want to adjust the changes then give RNGs an enmity- bonus in the sweet spot. That way when were literally just shooting arrows (not even barrages or sidewinders) we don't pull half the party across the map and piss everyone off

I mean.. It's kinda fixing a dumb situation with a dumb situation...

but sure, it's also a huge improvement and still avoids the tp gain he was worried about .. so sounds good.

I mean you can try. A lot of girth to get through.


I didnt level RNG until 08' and then I didnt notice any acc issues so it was extremely too small of a nerf to be noticeable.
